PoE 2 crash fix ? Anyone
Has anyone figured out a way the game to stop crashing . I've played several hours without any problems .

I started playing for 2nd time and I can't even start the game most of the times now , without the game completely freezing my PC .

I am with 7800 x3d and 4070 ti super . This is ridiculous .

Please anyone ??!?

This is a new patch 24H2 of Windows 11 issue, which seems has something not compatible with Dx12 to work together. Here is a website with few solution choices.

It's not caused by 24h2 on its own, the next nvidia driver launching with RTX 50 no longer reproduces the issue and the bug has been closed internally at nvidia pending any fresh reports once it releases.

so its a nvidia driver problem, can be because i am on 23H2 and have crashes too

Not sure, might be on going thing, i had full PC crash yesterday after switching characters i couldn't believe I never experience this before. Must be newest small updates causing it. I only hope maybe new patch could resolve some issues. Being EA i guess i should expect this.

Here's why the devs can't seem to fix it. I have the same hardware and no crashes or failure to load or anything. I have the latest windows 11. That seems to be part of the issue. It seems like it might be hard to pin down.

i actually can confirm this.

I was playing PoE 2 on windows 10 just fine. I had like 2 crashs in 45 hours.
3 days ago I installed windows 11 24H2. Since then i crashed more then 15 times on top of that and even had 4 hard freezes.
the cpu priority setting fixed the hard freezes, but the crash problem is now quite annoying.

it is DEFINITLY a problem with the game and Windows 24H2.
Atm im considering going back to win10 actually, this is no fun.

Hello, i reinstalled win 11 on version 23H2 thinking its the version 24H2 problem, but i still encountered the crashing issue on the loading screeb once I start PoE2, i know now that its no longer a windows issue, but just on PoE2 since I can play all other games just fine. Ive uninstalled PoE2 and given up. 😔

Found a fix for me, I had VM machines installed on my windows and when I turned of "memory integrity" the game stopped crashing.

Select Start , enter ‘Core Isolation’ in the taskbar, and select Core Isolation from the list of results to open the Windows security app.
On the Core isolation page, turn off the toggle for Memory integrity. You might need to restart your device.

Sadly not working here, i have it always disabled.

It was the games fault from start, having the Problem since start of EA. GGG stopped caring i guess. You could try to use POEUncrasher from this gitub: https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher
In my case it does stop the crashes in Loading screen, it doesnt make the game better though.

At some point even this exe/launcher didnt help me anymore, sadly. But i just recieved a windows 11 update together with a net framework update for 24h2... lets hope this is the fix we are waiting for. EDIT: The first updates since 2 1/2 weeks... i have high hopes.

I found a temporary, but countermeasure.

Part 1
Launch taskmanager and poe2

Part 2
Edit 「set affinity」 of poe2 and uncheck CPU 0, CPU 1

This prevents the PC from freezing.

Part 3
Play poe2

Prat 4
Open Resource Monitor when if pos2 was freezing

Right-click and select Pause Process
Then select resume process

I was poe2 working again in my enviroment

I was told I have a hardware or 24H2 issue, so I decided to just play my other games for the past few weeks. No crashes on any other game in my library.

Will they fix this issue with the new patch?

I've been disabling multithreading in the Game Options right before clicking on the portal, and then re-enabling it as soon as the Map loads. So far disabling multithreading has stopped the loading map crashes. But performance sucks, so re-enable it right away.

I see several crash fixes in the 0.1.1 notes. Hopefully this is one of them

To understand why a game crashes there are a few reasons:

1. Your specific hardware or software has issues with the game.
e.g. Many people that had the Logitech G Hub software installed in the early EA days had lots of crashing. This was fixed by Logitech or NVidia or both. They blamed each other if I remember correctly.

2. The game has a common crash bug. These are often fixed in a hotfix, assuming they get help identifying the cause. Hotfixes "are not" mentioned on Steam discussions but on the official forums here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-forum/2212

So, lets assume for now you are in #1
How do you self diagnose the issue? You do the following:

1. Make sure your OS is updated. GGG will build their client assuming you are running the latest OS version. Run Windows Update and actually click the button "Check for updates" as it might say your up to date and you are not. Do not turn on "Get latest updates as soon as they are available" That's asking for trouble as you get untested preview updates etc. Click "Advanced Options" and then "Optional Updates" as this can show motherboard, bios and system device updates that are available. Do them.

2. Look at your startup items, do you have a ton of unknown apps or bloatware that starts running in the background when windows starts? Open Task Manager and click on "Startup Apps" on the left. Then click the "Status" column header to sort by "Enabled". On my system I have just 1 enabled startup items out of about 60 in there. Just my AntiVirus. I have disabled (right click + disable) lots of un-needed apps like Teams, Phone Link, Whatsapp, iCloud, One Drive etc. If I need those apps to run then I will run them manually myself after windows starts. I don't need them running in the background when I am gaming, ever. Once you have disabled them you have to reboot. REBOOT!

3. Make sure you "Verify Game Files" in Steam. I can not stress this enough. You need to do this after every crash, no exceptions"

4. Run DXDIAG from the start menu. Click the start menu icon at the bottom and just type "dxdiag" and the app will appear. Launch it. Let it complete its tests and only then, click "Next Page". You want it to say "No problems found" at the bottom on every page.

5. Have you installed the latest GPU Drivers? It's sometimes worth going back to the last stable release but you would need to run Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) first.

6. Do not overclock your PC when trying to figure out game crashes.

If you are here and have followed the above (not skimmed it! I mean it, don't skim it and just say "done all that") and you are still crashing, then it's time to dive into system logs.

Click the start button and type "Event Viewer".
Expand "Windows Logs" arrow on the left and "RIGHT" click on "Application" then click on "Clear Logs" then "Clear".
Do the same for Security, Setup and System.
Close Event Viewer app.
(You are clearing these logs so you have a clean slate to start from)

Now launch POE and make it crash. Look at the time! Make a note of the exact time it crashed.

Now, load "Event Viewer" back up and check all of the Windows logs (Application, System etc) and look for RED log errors at the exact time the game crashed. This info is golden. It might be technical jargon but this is a crash report that helps others find a solution to your issue.

As a small disclaimer, there are literally thousands of reasons a game might be crashing for you. Maybe you haven't activated windows so it will never perform windows updates for example. However this helps you remove the "you" from the reasons why it is crashing.

Update 2 days later: Zero crashes or freezes so far!

PS: Not using any workaround/s. W11 24h2 fully updated, everything else also up2date, even the bios versions and other firmware. It is looking promising... finally.

EDIT: You might want to try a Windows "in place Update", which can get you the latest patches earlier than the default windows update function in some cases.

My wife and I have identical rigs, I built both and ordered 2 of everything, AMD 5950X with 7900GRE Hers runs the game fine, but I can't get past the login screen without my PC shutting down and restarting...

I'm done messing with this game. I've tried every "fix". Moving on...
