Does a full critical damage build work well?
I’m going for a fireball critical damage build, it’s not deleting the map at lvl52 but can it work? Or should I spec into something else?

From all my experience, crit feels somehow good only on monks. The game lack ways to boost crit chance high enought to be it enjoyable. But i might be just spoiled with PoE1 100% crit.

Crit whilst doing the campaign is debatable. I find it's better to do straight damage increases first and respec to all the crit nodes you want at the same time when you have enough points and, ideally, some more crit bonuses from gear/jewels.

not sure how crits work in this game . i got like 90% chance wia nodes but it fells like only portion of atacks deal tremendous damage . can someone explain

plasma blast scatter shot can deal very varried damage .sometimes 60k sometimes 150k+ . i think monsters have some sort of critical resists

90% it's almost nothing , for ex you have 5% base crit chance , with 90% more its only 9% chance

Quarterstaves have massive base crit and monks have easy access to high attack speed. Makes sense.

If you're going to be making a crit build you want to use a weapon or spell with high base crit. Fireball with only 7% probably ain't it when there's spells with double that. Though I've yet to level a caster, so who knows what you can cook up.

Mage need good jewel for crits. Currently those equipment is expensive AF. If you just want to do basic T15 map and some early pinnacle boss it is not really needed to spec for crits. But to go above and beyond you dont really have much other option.

Wording "increased" is multiplier of the base. And its additive. It works across the board, not just for crit chance.

So 90% increased crit chance means base-crit-chance x 1.9.

Bloodmage has ascendency node that sets base crit for spells to 15%.

Its still weird to se fireball as fire feels underwhelming compared to ice/lightning as it doesnt offer CC.

Oh, then base spell crit chance basically doesn't matter as long as you're Bloodmage. Good to know.

Edit: oof, that's 6 points into the ascendancy though. Kind of a big commitment.

You can make any build imo, but you need to not compare it to other builds, there will be always something stronger.

My Invoker has 53% crit on ice strike with charge infusion. With a 13% base crit chance on the weapon and all the chance nodes and jewels I can get.

So it's pretty much maxed out.. there is one crit chance twig on the tree I dont have but that wont change it that much. So getting more than 60% crit is borderline impossible so far as I know.

Now getting a decent weapon with crit chance, crit dmg, atk speed and phy dmg on it.. thats the real problem lol.

I got to lvl 91 playing Blood Mage with spark/arc and CoC Comet. I melt bosses in t15s/t16s and I only got around 65% crit, so I think it works, atleast in my exp.

Most crit builds I've seen are Monk or Bone Storm.
To make it workable you really need a high base crit since everything is based off that.

Hexblast and DD with Blood Mage apparently works great too.
Is there a way I can find out how much my build is doing in raw critical damage?
