I'm gonna burst your bubble. Here's the truth. Melee in PoE1 has been through a bandaid fix for years. It never was good. You think PoE2 will be any different? It's the same team of developers. Whatever GGG promised you, it will be another repeat fail. Enjoy!
They just said on the dev interview after the stream that, with v0.1.1, armour should be "roughly" 15% more effective. They are looking into it more for future patches, especially the physical damage that white mobs do and how that affects armour scaling based on damage (which is why we get destroyed in the zones near the end of Act II and Act III).

The upcoming fixes isn't going to make Warriors immortal AND OHKO bosses. These adjustments will make Warriors better. Rather than failing 90% of the time, Warriors will now fail 89% of the time.

So, Im in Cruel with my warrior, and it feels *MUCH* better than I did in OG Campaign and at release. The changes they are forecasting are what Im feeling is just what the Doctor ordered; I have High Skill already, but Skill only gets you so far. This last push, based on what they actually will do, it'll be what I need to go the Distance. We can talk more about it beyond that, and Im eager to see what the future will look like (obv so long as they dont go backwards)

YUP; Ive seen personally the White mob thing (because I read and remember about what Armor is supposed to do); so that + the armor change, and their wider vision is just what the class needs. They also (Super vaguely I know) hinted at making Armor more of what it is with defence (ie Elemental res and dmg reduction), which is just straight no-brainer at this point

Does that mean they're gonna nerf Hammer of the Gods with a longer cast time? It probably needs that.

Just kidding. Really though, fixes are probably going to be exactly that: fixes to things that aren't doing what they're supposed to.

You were cooking until that last sentence. FWIW,

Im not looking to Oneshot/OHKO. I AM looking to be viable, and apply my natural High Skill and not feel the game fighting me every step. I imagine 99% of Warriors feel the same, and we will be rewarded for our patience. This sounds like a salty post of a nerf thats incoming for some build you "crafted".. sorry for the loss
They've been fixing melee for years now. My favorite melee build after they finally fixed it again was, Frostblades of Ketabasis. Where you attack enemies from a distance with spell like ability using physical damage converted to elemental. Best melee I ever played.

Jokes aside, I read something that echoed my thoughts recently. It's an impossible task to make melee compete fairly with ranged. It's always bringing a knife to a gunfight situation.
Where this becomes false is in games like Elden ring where melee is so good, the whole game is based around it. I would argue tho, that it is the RANGED that are gimped there. But PoE is not that type of combat. Range will always be safer here and safety = progression.

Ha, they said Hammer of the Gods is what it is. Beyond this, you're spot on. They are actively noticing the issues with Warrior; honestly the next round of fixes for it will get us 50% of the way there. It doesnt need a MASSIVE overhaul, but it needs MASSIVE swings on the issues. (No puns intended lol)

Honestly (and I agree it was probably me, I'll fully admit) I just freaking hate melee in POE1. I made it to 76 on a Templar, and forget what on my Warrior, but it just felt such garbage that I couldnt do it anymore. POE2 is where its at, just needs some more seasoning and a little more time in the oven.
