can't use comet in demon form?
i revert immediately as soon as i cast it (which pretty much defeats the purpose of having demon form). tried removing all support gems from both - still the same issue. lightning warp seems to have the same problem (regardless of whether it actually warps or not). other spells i tested worked fine. i'm pretty sure it worked at some point, since i remember spamming comets in demon form being quite fun.

Main culprit might be your weapon/offhand. Do you have stats on it ? When you transform you lose your weapon set, transformations effectively work as a 3rd set (you can even assign passives and skills to them), so if you have stats on your weapon set and you need it to meet comet req (or its support limit req), using the skill will switch to the correct set, removing the transformation.

yep that was the issue. somehow ended up being 3 int short. tbh that stat juggling while shapeshifting is extremely discombobulating. i wish they'd done it differently.

I think the specialization points for the passive tree is there for that. Like switch some of your tree to a set, and use the demon form points to get some stats. It's definitely a mechanic that needs some digging into, there must be some greats uses of it.

but specialization points still come from from the total pool, don't they? seems that way. so i can have +5 int for demon form only, or always, but i still spend one total point for it. so i might as well have it always. i can only see a use for them for passives that have downsides, like e.g. necrotic talisman.
