I will admit, I did it at level 90 on the lowest possible level floor, which is.. 75 I think? and it was a breeze. If you can steamroll T15+ maps, you can ascend no problem.
Can't fathom having to do all the trials of each on 4-5 other characters. Nope, not till they're tweaked a bit by GGG.
I just gave up on it. Still getting all honour cheesed away and then reaching the trial master... just puts my monk right into a corner like a little boy that has just upgraded all his gear with all his divine orbs
I am not touching these trials till they make them doable for noobs/people with trash rng...
1 run cost me around 45min... tried 4 times in a row... realised I wasted 3 hours for absolute nothing..
I can do t16 and t17 maps anyways... so why bother for the last 2 ascension points.. makes no sense to me
So, I just personally opted out/deferred the issue and will wait to see what happens. No point in getting frustrated, when you can go and finish the campaign and get into maps without them.
I tend toward agreement that they ought to have checkpoints simply because they are long. Even the 10% XP loss people cry about at end game isn't as punishing as having to re-do the entire 4 floor trial. Until you're like well into 90s anyway. But I wouldn't hold.your breath on them making big changes to allow bad builds or clueless noobs to be able to walk through them. They're trials. And they're supposed to gear/skill check you. Along with the reward feeling good for achieving it. Especially since they're already pretty easy.
One of the issues is that you can be cautious, experienced, over-leveled and over-geared, but sometimes the RNG of the room choices will force you into a lethal room which ends the run.
The player must select that run-ending room, or you can't advance forward. I mean, we're in EA, so this is why we share the feedback now.
In those cases, I used to fight to the death, or try to squeak out a miracle victory, but now that I lose experience on death at high level, it's not worth it. I just leave and restart.
I can melt the rares and bosses at this point, but it's all the obstacles, traps, enemies springing out of the floor, the ground effects, the stuff in between which slowly drains my honour gauge. There's also a few enemies that have wildly high honour damage, and before you know it, half your honour is gone.
"Minor afflictions" should be reworked entirely. Too many "minor" labeled ones are definitely major ones, it's misleading and overly punishing. A player can stack too many of them and it'll end the run, like, guaranteed.
It should never fail you. In stead it should be a loot multiplier.
I.E: You finish with X amount of honor that turns into X amount of more/quality drops.
who actually played sanctum? id like to know.
Edit: even the chaos trial in the first game was better. nothing but extentions (padding)
Real question is, who didn't play sanctum? Hint: all the poor people
Before the last nerf, it was a money printing machine, that needed next to nothing gear wise and earning a ton of raw divines + sextants that the hideout warriors loved to buy in huge bulks. I was watching netflix on my 2nd screen while making hundreds of divines from sanctum.
And sanctum in PoE1 was a lot harder than here.
I didnt kill the last boss yet tho, I ran into mana issues and arena was a mess. I have an easy fix for that, so I'll smash this boss today
-Worn Sandals: 25% Reduced Movement Speed.
-Sharpened Arrowhead / Iron Manacles: You have no Armour / no Evasion.
-Tattered Blindfold: 90% reduced Light Radius and Minimap is hidden. (makes the rooms a true slog, imo)
Is that increased game difficulty, or is it just straight up annoying and obnoxious?
There's too many run-ending combos of afflictions at the moment, and they pile on too quickly without a way to purge or manage them. I think GGG starts there, rework the entire affliction/boon/honour system and dial it in more. Again, we're in EA, this is the time to tune this stuff.
Took me several trys to complete all 4 ascendancies and now I run the trials often just for the loot! If its too hard, farm better relics...my 4th ascendancy I went in with 10k honor resis and when i killed the final boss I still had 5k left. Honor resistance, increased max honor and increased boss dmg are king. Also get the boon that gives you speed increase and also have at least 25% movement speed on your boots.....Then its a walk in the park.
