Is there any point in energy shield passives when using eldritch battery?

There is indeed no reason to get them with Eldritch Battery as it only applies to your total ES but not your base ES that gets converted.

But there is one exception. If you wear the Everlasting Gaze which transforms part of your max mana into ES you do keep that ES even with Eldritch battery, so then it again makes sense to use ES nodes as you again do have ES.
