Path of Exile 2

If GGG doesn’t respond to Elon Musk clearly cheating
Then I’d say they no longer care about the integrity of the game therefore you shouldn’t worry about buying RMT its all good in there eyes for people to pay real money to get there account carried. I need to buy some divines I guess.

You would be ok with the RMT if Elon didn't clearly use it? RMT has been massive in POE forever. Don't expect much to happen.

Why do you care? He at least provides us with a lot of content to enjoy. You can also revel in the fact you are better at something than the richest person to ever live. Tiny victory but it counts :P

not hard to be better if the dude doesnt even play just makes a stream with a boosted char pretending to be good at it. its shameful and ridiculous and he makes an idiot out of himself, destroying his own integrity and reputation. he should just stay w d4

rmt does nothing to the game, just play solo self found and what others do does not concern you.
claiming that rmt ruined your game play experience means that you want to get items from market which other players are willing to pay more than you, so problem is you not rmt

He singled out Elon Musk. Is Elon the one and only player using/abusing RMT?

I, personally, separate character boosting and buying in-game items (gear or currency) for real money. I can empathize with someone who pays for a character leveling as I can see reasons that can prevent them from playing their game of choice as much as they would liked to. Granted, I would expect them not to brag about their boosted character in front of millions of people all over the world.
I do not understand nor agree with buying in-game items for real money, however, it might be for different reason that you might think. Partially, it does not make a sense to me as getting gear or currency is the major reason to play the game. If you buy your best gear for a few bucks compared to your monthly pay, what is the point of playing the game? Sure, there are bragging rights, power fantasy and all but I see RMTs as a side-effect of incorrectly set-up wealth and gear acquisition. Companies, GGG included, design their games and tweak in-game system in a way to maximize player engagement and retention--for some reason GGG though the right way to achieve these goals is to make the game stingy with drops and when you finally get a drop, it will most likely be useless item or for a different class. This is why most people play in trade leagues and this is why you have RMTs flourishing. If you are able to acquire gear at a reasonable pace as you progress through the game and engage in harder content, demand for RMT would be much lower. Unfortunately, this is not the case in PoE1 and PoE2 alike, therefore, RMT is popular.

Lastly, should GGG do anything and everything to prevent RMT? Yes, however, I'm not sure there is much they can do about it other than rethinking their approach to the whole issue and fix root causes of RMT rather than trying to fight it as it is just a symptom.

I can firmly believe that he has a guy set up with a monthly / 2 weeks based income to make characters for him to play and test out the game in end game. I doubt that this falls under the act of boosting, if he hired him to play on an account and he can access it from the same hardware.

He has no damn clue what he is doing :D

RMT is the implicit 'pay to win' version of this game: player paying another player (a farmer) real money to buy items that directly or indirectly help reduces chances of dying in-game.

Yea, that’s nonsense.

PoE isn’t a single-player game since you engage with other players on the market.

Like you said yourself, “play SSF.”

SSF is not the normal or desired playmode, that’s why there is the possibility to trade in the first place.

Of course, RMT is a huge problem.

It affects the market to a degree that a bigger and bigger part of the players won’t be able to keep up with inflation.

You find 1 divine every 2 days?

Great, now your next big upgrade only costs 50+ divines and a hundred in 1 week.

Please just be quiet if you can’t understand how RMT affects online games with trading.

Not even talking about the fact that a lot of currency you can buy for real money doesn’t "just" come from bots but also from hacked accounts.

Maybe you’ll change your opinion on RMT if your account gets cleared out too within the next weeks.

BUT ABOUT ELON: chances are his account has nothing to do with RMT.

If he hired, like, the top PoE player in Asia to boost his account, this guy might have done that in a legit way.
I don’t see why not.

It’s account sharing, yes.
Not sure if there is a punishment for that.

Elon just being giga pathetic. Bet nobody saw that coming.

People need to Remember. That in the USA. If You have enough Money. Even the Law does not Apply to You.
So why the Heck should Rules of a Game Apply ???

If that was the only thing stopping you from RMT, then you're just as pathetic as anyone else using RMT. Even if GGG themselves would sell it legally, anyone buying it would be pathetic.

Even blue haired radfems that are obsessed can be right on the mark occassionally. Why should anyone follow the rules that the rich dont? Quit treating Elon like tech bro jesus
