higher tier uniques...?

Are there advanced versions and higher of uniques in the game? For instance, when I get to the point where advanced stone greaves drop, will there be a chance of getting an advanced version of Birth of Fury with increased stats? or is it a one and done thing?

Stuff like advanced items are simply different item bases. And yes, it often is possible for those better item bases to also have unique variants. But currently not all item bases have unique variants. But those other item bases will be different uniques as all uniques can only exist on one type of item base.

Uniques are generally designed to have the exact stats that they have because they are either intended for leveling or to obtain a unique effect that might enable a specific build. Rares are what you get for raw stats most of the time.

Uniques can drop at different item-levels, which can increase the stat ranges they can roll with. That's not the answer to your question but I hope it helps anyway.

That's not how it works aside from caster weapons that can have different built-in skill levels based on item level.

When I see a unique drop I think "oh, another chance shard".

They revealed a lot of uniques that are just not in the game atm. I'm guessing its for testing reasons. Slow dripping new uniques over time.

But they have shown us some that are just simply not in the game yet. Mjölner and Poets Pen come to mind.
