GGG is owned by Tencent

Didn't know this before, but GGG is owned by Tencent, a Chinese company with very large server farms located in China. As someone who's dealt a lot with China, I can tell you a strict rule that all Chinese companies must follow. The government can come in without warning and review and sieze any data they want. Tencent is in full compliance with this law.

I don't know the specifics of GGG's arrangement with Tencent, but if your data sits on Chinese servers, then it is not safe.

Just a head's up.

I mean Monster Hunter Online by Tencent was really good, and was one of the greatest monster hunter games ever, adding new monsters all the time but was soon shut down for some odd reason

This has been the case for years and their business model has not deviated in the slightest in fact its got even more consumer friendly. There may be a time in the future where this changes, but GGG are not that stupid to get themselves into a deal that would compromise the game they clearly care and are passionate about.

If you didn't know, the master server is actually in Texas which handles instances and also guild stash tabs. (Which is why if you live in EU or OCE or Asia, accessing the guild stash tab is very laggy). It isn't located in china.
