is the tattered robe too good?
any real downsides to running with 10k ES some jewels which give you Stun/Freeze resist depending on your ES?

Only tested it on a T12 breach, with no dangerous mods, (density +40% / +20% dmg / opens & closes slower

You're just full of crap at this point man... Yes, your ES will be lower, but you get way more resistances, hp, hp regen, damage, etc. You're brainlessly looking at one specific number and completely ignoring how the damage formula for EHP works. Having 2,000 more ES does not mean you can take more hits. That's just not how it works. Being able to get 40% of multiple res on a chest piece reduces way more damage than 2,000 ES does. On top of that, you lose a huge amount of damage. Also, I can look at the market right now and see over a dozen pieces of armor better than Ghostwrithe for endgame content that are under 1 div.

You're lying for the sake of lying. Why? I gave you an extremely thorough explanation already and instead of just taking in the information that you specifically asked for, all you wanna do is argue with people and project you're incorrect logic onto others. It makes no sense. Even if we're talking straight tankiness, Ghostwrithe is not number 1. The 5 socket chest from the pinnacle boss provides way more bulk if you want it to. Idk why you're so upset and blind to reason, but you're acting like a child. It's ridiculous.
But if you cover your resists on other pieces of gear, there's no reason not to use Ghostwrithe. Stack resists and life on your other slots and get 4K ES from GW, or have the same resists but get only 2K ES from your chest. Seems pretty clear which one everyone should strive for.

Yeah, perfectly rolled gear that's been corrupted, or a super chase unique, might be better overall, but 99.999999% of players will never see such an item, and pretty much everyone will see at least one Ghostwrithe drop.

no any 500 es chest with 40 spirit can replace it.

gives more mana,if you go EB) ,
gives more damage, if you are EB+Archmage
lets you use grim feast, which pretty much gives you more ES than Ghostwrithe
maybe some resist to free up other slots

and you should get one under 10ex.
i got mine 750ES with 50 resist and 40 spirit for like 2div. which is pretty cheap now.

It was great early game until I realized how many stats i'm losing out by using it vs some other chests pieces I have.

not playing as mage, but as monk, with ES meditation which doubles the ES

The only build that really relies on it heavily in late game is Demon Form and that's just because it reduces you max hp, if there was another way to reduce hp by 61%, I'd swap immediately to something with more res, spirit, damage, and just overall more utility. The ES is nice, but it's easy to get a lot of ES in the game already. It just gets expensive; which is why Ghostwrithe is often the first choice until people have a way to make currency. Most other builds replace it in the higher maps. It's basically just a really good and cheap option for leveling.

anyway 500 ES gives me only 2k ES and Ghostwrath 4k ES

so a 500 ES body armor isn't going to cut it for my build, it would need at least 800 ES

How which one would give my build 4k ES ? I don't believe it is that easy, without paying tens of divines

uniques are good in ssf where its really hard to get rares with good rolls
on trade youre actually trolling yourself by equipping that

yeah, i used Ghostwrithe up until t15. it is good and cheap.

but if you want more damage you need to change into a normal ES chest.
i lost like 2500es but gain around 3k dps.
as i said you should buy a 500es chest with 40+ spirit and try it out.
they are pretty cheap now, i bet you could get one under 20ex.
but you should also try to get some more ES on your helmet, offhand and shoes.
start with some 150-200 es Helmet and offhand, they should be also under 10ex.
