Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Question regarding Account/Steam-Login
I understand that for many, creating new accounts is not a challenge. And logging in via Steam isn't necessarily a bad thing in itself. But I try to avoid linking my Steam account or associating it with any other ID wherever possible.

What's the situation here? It looks like the kind of game I'd enjoy, but I'm still feeling a bit hesitant.

you could just play it on its native launcher, no steam or epic required

Even PoE 2?

Currently the best way to play is only through Steam, and not creating an account though the official site.

Steam has 2FA while official path of exile site doesn't, so right now a ton of people getting hacked and all their items stolen who either made the acc on official site, or linked such acc to Steam.

So I would avoid playing on native launcher or using the account created on the official site.

It's impossible to play PoE without a PoE account. But if you play on Steam your PoE account gets auto created and you can login into that account with your Steam login. Also, PoE1 and PoE2 use the same account, which is also why you also have access to most PoE1 microtransactions in PoE2.

yes, POE 2 can be ran with native launcher. No need to link steam.
So, like, we’re only getting a standalone launcher post-Early Access, right?

No, we already have a standalone launcher which you can download from their website if you have EA access on your account.

You can download the stand alone there. You have to be logged into your POE account and have claimed an Early Access key to download it.
