Poison and any purple attacks cannot hurt you at all. You just need a metric ton of ES with Eternal Youth and good ES Recharge to make it really beneficial.
And because chaos resistance is so rare and roll so low on gear, having a passive that es shield character can trade 2k life, that they didn't care anyway because they have 6k+ energy and if that gets depleted they probably die, for complete immunity means it's the strongest passive node in the entire tree.
If you happen to be an ES character, chaos is extremely scary even at 75% because it does more damage to energy shield. People spec into CI to not have to deal with chaos as ES and free up a slot on their gear. It does come with some penalties, though.
chaos damage is not even in my top10 list of things that kill(ed) me
#1 luxury stat
Its just myth. You are on full life, but not on low life.
The above means that immunity to Chaos is rather valuable as it makes gearing a lot easier since you can ignore one needed stat. What you need to consider is what downside comes with the immunity and can you build around it.
