100 exalts sell for 1 dollar
1 divine sells for 2 dollar
working a minimum wage job at mc donalds is 10x effective than grinding the game
SSF is for people who do not like to play a pay2win game
the game actually is balanced for SSF and not trade.
Trade has no balance, you pay2win 20$ and you oneshot the entire game,
that is no balance and trade will never be balanced.
If you dont believe me, listen to Kripparian:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBmcuIoVEJM
12:06 for good explanation on SSF appeal and why the game is balanced for SSF and not trade
Just buff the rates and you've fixed a lot with literally zero drawback.
You do realise in 2 months the league will be reset
If you don't care about leaderboards, you can simply play normally and just don't trade, then you have the same effect of SSF.
The only reason that it's a separate mode is for the SSF leaderboards, so noone can "cheat" by trading in that mode, you know that everyone who is on the top of SSF leaderboards did it without trading.
nonsense.
I'm not trading items but I am using the currency exchange. Learn how to craft and you will have all the gear you need along with the occasional useful drop. Trading is a cesspool anyway. Currently a lvl 78 Ranger-Pathfinder and easily clearing T8 maps, running my own build, nothing meta or researched online. If I don't reach the highest tier endgame, that's fine with me. When I reach the end of the road of what my current build can do, I'll level up a different class/build and enjoy that too.
to respond to the OP, the reason for SSF is for the accomplishment of 'doing it yourself'.
I am having a blast in SSF at the moment and won't be returning to trade until there is a new economy without any exploits and magic find abuse. I recently crafted a pretty solid quarterstaff from just a normal item that dropped, tripling my damage. I would have never crafted on that item in a trade league, I would have just saved up some divines to buy it.
The point is that you are forced and can separate the leagues.
If I want a challenge and play the game as intended I play ssf. If I want to roflstomp everything I play trade. It's a very different experience. I can switch whenever and don't need to keep track of what I found and what I bought.
So yeah, there is a point and the modes play very differently.
EA league will remain until 1.0 happens, this is exactly how PoE1 worked as well. So this "league" will last between 9-12 months. Then these characters won't even be placed in standard, they will be placed in a separate EA league tab and nobody will play any of the EA characters because then the first official league will start.
-SSF is not an extra challenge in ANY WAY. SSF doesn't change the way people play the game in any way. You still pick of everything you want and leave what you don't as well as craft what you want. The gameplay is the EXACT SAME. People play the same builds with the same desired gear. It's not a different experience at all. Using or not using trade does not count as a game's challenge. Trade is literally just an annoyance. Please stop with that nonsensical 'extra challenge' BS you've heard from someone else. Nothing's different between modes EXCEPT the trade so there CANNOT be a 'extra challenge'.
-"complaining about SSF drop rates means I've missed the point of SSF?" that makes zero sense. Everyone still wants to complete builds in the game/each season. Many people just don't want to be basically forced to trade to do so or spend 1000+ hours a season.
