Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Freezes and crashes entire PC
Has anyone else experienced this? Know of any work arounds? I can't play the game for even an hour without crashing, it's so frustrating running the same area multiple times due to crashing.

Since todays patch (dont know if it relates) every second loading screen breaks my PC. Tried differend graphical setting, full screen, windowed modes, number of CPU cores, nothing helped, will wait for patch

If your freeze/crash only occurs during loading screens, a solution that works for me every single time is to turn off Engine Multithreading before a loading screen then turn it on after.

The reason is there's a glitch during loading screens that overloads your CPU cores, causing the freeze. But EMT makes your CPU use only one core, so it doesn't freeze your PC since the remaining cores don't get overloaded.

If you are running Windows 11 24H2 if so then that is the issue... Its also not just coursing issues with POE2 but other games as well.

Rolling back to an older version if you can is the best option or wait for Microsoft to fix it.

Even after a month of launch, GGG still hasn't resolved this problem.

this behavoir is 100% linked to 24h2
you have 2 options at this point

1)either revert that update if you still can
(timeframe is 10 days after it is installed)

2) download an image from uudp dump and completly reinstall windows with 23h2 and block all udpates.

The only fix is reverting the 24H2 update. If has been 10 days since you updated, too late, you will have to download an ISO containing the old update and reinstall windows with the 23H2 patch or older patch.

That's what I did. Not a single loading screen crash that freezes up my computer since. Only had one crash since and it was not CPU related, but rather the game just closed itself when I opened a breach.

Its not 100% fix. Just rolled it back, still crashing

That's a 24h2 issue, not the game's. Cpu's with a lot of cores/threads can push through this issue though. If you cpu has 8 cores or less then it might be affected.
I had a crash once with my pc and i decided to try and run it off amd adrenalin with custom settings with it i had the same thing happen with another game and it have barely had any crashes. Only time was when the video card drivers weren't up to date to up or if the driver had unexpected problems. With it but that's it i just lower everything by a little and no crashes but i did some stutters in some areas other than that no problems really.

You can go into task manager and set the CPU affinity to not use the first two cores (CPU 0,1). Frees up those first two cores to still deal with Windows stuff. The game still crashes for me consistently... but at least it doesn't freeze my whole PC and require a hard reset.
My crashes aren't on load screens, they're when I'm playing so I guess it's a Windows issue. Hope it gets fixed soon, sucks to not be able to play.

You probably rolled back one of the updates, there are two 24H2 updates. Only rolling back one won't do anything. The first one was updated a long time before the second, making it impossible to revert (10 days) unless you very recently updated for some reason.
