Perfect orbs are a headache.. after 280 hours I got one of these.
Yea. One node in particular on the atlas tree helps a lot. Local Knowledge for 40% increased chance to drop socket currency in grass biomes.
lesser jeweler orbs start getting "relatively" common toward lv 70+, medium ones are rare even in lv 80+ content and the best ones have a stupidly low drop rate, pretty much require trading (unless you like maxed endgame bosses over and over again for weeks).
While Devs said that with the poe 2 system, you'll be able to 6-Linked any slotted gem, they never said it would be easier.
On average you will still get around the same setup as poe 1, meaning one 6 linked with great effort, one 5 linked with good effort and the rest as 4 linked.
the only difference is that it's now not tied to your stuff, so you can switch items more easily, but the linking process is still an endgame achievement like in the first one.
You can have 4 links easily in poe 1 within campaign because you need to be able to switch equipment. In poe 2 you don't have that restriction, so you can switch freely without the need to resocket.
Then, in poe 1, your support gems have to level up, so you need more supports to balance the power. In poe 2 support gems don't have levels, so they are already at the maximum of their power.
the whole shift in poe 2 is that there are no colours and no fusing anymore. So that only leave one rarity, the socket number. So it's going to be more rare because there are less variables.
This is, again, stuff that the community asked (separating gems and items), but nobody actually thought about the consequences of that.
Well that's the consequence, it's gonna be harder to 6 link 8 gems in poe 2 than it is to 6-link one in poe 1, Becasue having more skills at disposal means they have to progress slower, otherwise it turns into a single button mash fest that the community (again) wanted to get away from, but it turns out that people still want to optimize one button build.
Well you can't have it both ways, you can't have a game with 8 skills and expect them to be each oneshot buttons when you enter endgame. There has to be a steep progression somewhere.
