Path of Exile 2

Any way to effectively get higher tier waystones?
I have been stuck for a while in tier 1 and tier 2 and my current quest is to complete tier 3+ maps, but I just can't get any tier 3+ waystones, I can't even buy them because the Doryani is selling just tier 1. Is there any effective way to get these waystones, instead of just being super lucky?

You can turn 3 T1 into a T2 and then 3 T2 into a T3.

If you want more waystones, you have to juice your maps with upgrading them.

juice = regal and exalt to get more stuff on your map + delirium optional

Map drops overall need to be fixed. I go into maps with 300 or more percent increased drop after map modifiers, precursor tablets and atlas passives and still may only have 1-2 waystones drop. That would be fine, except that I am running tier 14 maps and getting Tier 8 and below maps dropping. The tier 1 waystone drop was a bit of a kick to the gut. Add to this that the vendor doesn't consistently sell waystones worth buying, unlike POE 1 and you spend a lot of time just trying to get waystones at your level. The grind during endgame definitely needs some rejiggering.

Same is happening to me since this afternoon. Outside boss, nothing dropped waystone over t12 (and only 1-2 by maps) all afternoon while it was fine before. My T15 stock went low. Didin't run anything under 350% too

So upgrading my waystones is the only way to get higher and higher tiers?

It's not technically the only way, but nothing else is going to give anywhere near as much waystone drop rate as juicing your waystones.

You don't have to burn exalts on them, on random trash nodes i don't tend to take waystones beyond two-affix blues, but when I'm going for bosses or other special nodes I'll use better waystones. There's still no guarantee of sustainability, even doing that and taking all the appropriate atlas tree nodes, but in general it'll get you progressing quite steadily as long as you don't lose too many maps to deaths.

I lose quite a lot of waystones because I die a lot lol, I get hit like 2-3 times and I am done.

I'm in the same boat. I am currently running T8 Maps...Atlas is spec'd into more mobs and more waystones, I have combined and juices all I have, and I can not progress because I am not getting my level map drops, just 1-4 levels lower, and the grind to three to slowly progress to T8 is awful...This needs fixed quickly

I actually found an effective way to get some higher tier waystones since this post and it's by focusing on maps with bosses and having at least +80% waystone drop chance on your waystones. I am currently at tier 14+ in my quests, but now I am quite stuck, I have two or three tier 15 waystones, but they are yellow and I can barely do white tier 13 waystones so I am not really ready to do those and I have only one tier 14, it's yellow as well. I just can't really for some reason get white tier 14 waystones, not even the blue and yellow ones tbh, I keep getting tier 12 and 13 waystones from my tier 12 and 13 maps and no tier 14s or 15s.
poke trade or general, people will usually sell those for cheap or even give them away (i dont even pick up anything under 8)

I usually take lower tiered ones just to sell them for some gold, but I have everything which gives me higher chance and quantity for waystones in the atlas tree and I still am having a lot of problems getting tier 14s and 15s from tier 12 and 13 maps.

Imo, I don't think you should be "forced" to buy them, they should have a much higher drop chance, especially with all the atlas skills I have.

Never ever play blue or white maps. Always play the highest one available to you, even if there's a quest asking for 10 lvl1 clears. A 15lvl map only means that the base monsters level in it will be 80, and that's the whole meaning of it - nothing that special or scary, but the quality of drops will be bit higher.
If a map has only positive "buffs" on it (prefixes) then there will be little to no waystones dropped. Having "bad" and "scary" suffixes (=buffed monsters) means there will be a lot of waystone drops.
