All I know is, I would rather play this "half baked" game than any other game right now.
I have a few friends that keep telling me to play that new Marvel game. I tried it, its fun. But as soon as they get off, I jump right back into PoE2.

- Buys a game that clearly states in Early Access.
- Buys a game that will be Free to play and buying it now is clearly to Support its development.
- No matter how much you spend, all purchases are cosmetic anyway
- Game has tons more content than most AAA games these days on their full release.

The game is nearly 1 month old and the player retention rate is currently 55%, an insanely good number for a live-service game in Early Access.

GGG clearly marketted the game as an unfinished product and it is properly tagged Early Access on Steam.

Which you don't need to buy the EA, as a key costs only $30.
GGG's supporter packs have always been expensive since the beginning of PoE1, they're mostly if not only cosmetic items, they are optional purchases and they're there specifically for those who are willing to spend money.

This problem, again, doesn't exist and doesn't affect you in any way whatsoever as you were not willing to spend more than the amount for the key in the first place.

Don't buy and wait till game is out of EA. For the EA games I have bought into which is not many...POE2 has been the best exp out of them all. GGG is going to be fine and you can just wait as it will be free when its fully released. You talk about the $500 supporter pack...you can just get the $40 one. No one is forcing you to buy anything.

Betas and Early Access games I feel fortunate to have been a part of: New World, 7 Days to Die, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, World of Tanks, and PoE 2. I have no problem with them as long as it's clear what they are. Moreover, I feel lucky because each of these was a blast even before release. I appreciate games that you can tell were made with love—this is one of those games.

Rookie! Pump those numbers, I took 27 days of vacation from work LOL and I'm sitting at 378 hours right now in Poe 2. And I spent $0, one of my buddies gave me a key he got from buying a pack.

Mistake? Yeah because I'm sure you of all people know better than the people that run GGG. The reviews are also very positive so I don't know what kind of twisted echo chamber you're living in. This whole post is the real bad mistake.
