Linux 1GB updates every day.
Is it for everyone like that? On top after every update you need to recompile shaders. This is annoying.

Ive got the same issue. You just need to go to steam folder and remove everything related to POE2 except for files of game itself. I don't remember exactly, but userdata folder and some others had subfolders inside with names like this "397384798" so you have to delete them

You can disable the shader pre caching in steam. It will stop the constant updates and might not affect gameplay much.

Using Zorin since July 2024. No problems at all (except some shader issues with DLSS two times). I use Proton GE-9-22.
At least this one isn't related to Win 11 24H2 for sure. 😁

Same on SteamDeck. I get excited thinking they're releasing a new patch but nope - mf shaders and/or validation. This is everyday
Steam problem. I'm using the native launcher in lutris with proton-ge and there is no shader compilation or anything like that. Steam is getting annoying like hell with that.

Download it once, then remove shade pre compile. If you are on Nvidia - skip shading compile on start.
Same problem in Enshrouded, but you have to download ~8 GB.

its because of "shader pre caching" in Steam (Settings -> Downloads)
Might want to activate for other game, though

I would assume, that GGG is publishing the pre caching files on a nightly basis, because it keeps happening mainly the next day again. Maybe it's a thing for EA, which can't happen in a released game.
(But just an assumption, with no real proof or knowledge, how it exactly works)

Turn on graphs and watch for the shaders. I always let it settle down before I go aggressively moving around a new map, just to be sure it doesn't affect me when it gets busy.

Nothing of that comes from GGG - this is an automation in Steam, that generates shader pre-cached files which you download. Its based on drivers and proton version and game files. ts only on Linux. When you update your video driver things get crazy in steam with shader downloads as every shader needs re-complilation.

The game doesn't even support Linux, so why do you think GGG would provide shader files for linux users when they don't even have a linux client?

After I deactivated shader pre caching in Steam, I activated it again after some weeks and now its fine again. No daily downloads anymore.

I actually have no clue, what really happens, but I didn't say, that GGG provide shader files specially for linux user. But something in the chain for linux must have been different, whatever that is.

It's clear, that this game is only supported for Windows and Linux is mainly a side effect of Steamdeck support
