Adding skill gem slot to Bow Shot?

Is there a way to do this? Am i missing something?

The sockets of skills from weapons are dependant on the item level of the weapon. And for the skills got from ascendancies, it's from your character level.

The weapon i have equipped it 28 what level does it get more sockets? Also the weapon skill on ranger isn't listed on the weapon. Bow shot just appears.

The third socket will unlock when you hit character level 40.
Edit: The fourth unlocks at level 65.

martial weapons don't have the basic skills on the weapon. The actual skill is tied to your character level. Whereas the skill on a caster weapon is tied to the item level.

As for socket levels, I don't know the exact levels. It's around act 3 normal/act 1 cruel for 3 sockets, end of campaign/lower tier atlas maps for 4 sockets and full sockets weapons are in high tier maps (maybe 80+).

I believe you have to hit level 90 to get the last slot on weapon skills.
