Rarity can be fixed with a cap.
Resistance is a mandatory stat and it doesn't feel terrible because there's caps. You reach cap and the rest of your build is free to tinker with. This feels pretty good. Rarity would feel so much better if all you had to do was reach the cap because it's a mandatory stat like resistances and to a degree, movement speed. Movement speed I actually have an issue with because for most builds it invalidates every boot drop that doesn't have movement speed. Movement speed should have more ways to access it than just boots and a unique or few. Rarity just needs a cap and runes. Rarity should be treated exactly like resistance in my opinion, including needing more as you progress the campaign.

around 200mf was strong diminishing returns in D2 going higher.

oh man...

no magic find is not mandatory. how can u make up such nonsense, about a concept u clearly dont even understand

its an item stat u can DECIDE to focus on. you can DECIDE to trade off some of your damage/surivability potential in order to increase your chances for drops

thats totally up to you and in no way is the game forcing you to do so

so just stop complaining about things you dont even understand. you are even contradicting yourself, bcause on the one hand you complain about MF beeing mandatory (which it isnt)

and on the other hand in your last sentence u want it to be forced upon players to progress through the campaign

cant make this up

I like MF builds, I also liked the Quantity Support gem in PoE 1 until they removed that. If it needs balance then balance it, but don't hit it with a sledgehammer.

I mean mandatory as in if you're making a build guide to publish to the community, Are you going to make a build guide with 0 resistance? no. After playing through the campaign with and without magic find, it's for certain just as important as resistances and I'd ignore any build guide without rarity. The difference is night and day. You're overly hostile btw. No need for that. I don't understand how adding a cap is "forcing upon players to progress through the campaign." It's like you're so angry at the suggestion that your reading comprehension has been rather compromised. I wish I could think of a more gentle way of saying "touch grass" but it feels too appropriate for you mate.

A cap does fix a few things namely having it means there is zero point in going beyond it and this allows the devs to balance loot drops around that better.

It also saves stupid from itself in saying there is no need to stack more little buddy go grab some resistances or something. Because stupid will try to stack as much of it as they can to the detriment of their build thinking itll let them get better gear.

Its a balancing issue now and I can see GGG throwing a cap on it with heavy DR after that point, D2 had a similar setup but MF was also more rare in that game and only appeared on certain gear items.

I'm confused. Are you saying rarity cap should be exclusive to only the most dedicated, jobless players? Are we going to pull up the ladder behind us mentality like the boomers?

Yeah its an EA thing, I guess they are just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, what works and what is clearly broken, DR would get in the way of that data.

I want a soft cap with heavy DR on it after that point, hard caps are not great but they could do that too but they are harder to gear for.

I expect GGG will soft cap it with DR like most ARPGs do with such affixes.

I got two divine drops today running tiers 6-9

also got enough other currency/trade items to buy 2 more

I have 56% mf on gear.


4 div for 6 hours yellow map running aint bad.

Improving magic find should just be a different progression grind and removed from gear completely.

Probably another endgame passive tree or something.

Or..

Anyone played Guild Wars 2? There's consumables you find when salvaging gear that increases your magic find very slowly the more you play.
