They will explode if they get to you which you don't want.
Stand behind her during it.
Be aware, that during that time, a lot of "zombies" appear but you can't leave the protective shield...AoE spells/attacks are your friend here.
Edit: The boss is vulnerable to cold damage, so act accordingly
it still takes effort to not die, but at least you'll be done with it.
Everyone here saying "stand behind the NPC" but the issue is the other stuff killing you. His explosions one shot or almost kill my merc constantly, you get like 10 heals, am i suppose to dodge perfectly for 10mins? oh he also takes no damage but I was destroying everything before this point, so how does that make sense?
no I'm not "teaming up"
The game's learning curve may be a comparatively steep one, but the boss is not 'broken' such that it's going to be 'fixed'. It's an ARPG, you're expected to continuously upgrade your gear as the game's difficulty increases, fall too far behind the curve and things get rough.
My first character was a merc, I didn't exactly have an easy time with Jamanra because I didn't really know what I was doing either, but he was far from as bad as you've described. Use any and all resources at your disposal to get yourself a better weapon; vendors, gambling, drops, then upgrade that better weapon within reason, then put sockets in it and shove runes in for even more damage.
Regarding the damage you take - resists. It's not easy to stack them that much on a first character, but at the very least you should try to ensure your ring slots are dedicated to that. Having 20% resistance to something is still a whole lot better than -10%. And generally try to ensure your armour pieces are the appropriate ones for your passive bonuses, and try to keep them a bit up to date.
This isn't a mechanic issue, I hide behind the damn shield. I just don't do any damage, my health potion is not enough to heal me through both phases, and this simply isn't fun anymore. The point of a game isn't to mimic (badly) Souls games nor to punish players that fking pay for it.
This trend of making it hard just to make it hard without any actual thought behind has to end.
Drops are just bad.
I still have my lvl 16 wand with +2 skills as lvl 33.
Because I never found/crafted a wand which gives me better DPS for my skills.
I always wasted orbs into grey/blue/gold wands.. but nothing of them gave me more damage.
That is so fq annoying
Exactly this! Those "amazing" players are all so "it's easy, get better gear". I am level 36, doing level 32 area which gives me 23 level gear that is useless cause the stats are worse. I have wasted all my gold (I've been farming non-stop and still have 500 cause of talent changes and buying useless gear hoping they MIGHT be upgraded), and I see no way to escape the issue itself.
What are you talking about - that boss is really easy with Merc.
It doesn't take 10 minutes to end that storm and the zombies are very easily dispatched by your AoE skills. You have a LOT of those. Use them.
Do something else.
man what is youre lightning res at? cap that or at least get it to 40 All the classes you listed can build into ES, so you need to get that up, then its just learning patterns.
