What Which has to do with your problem with melee?
did u ever play frozen orb sorc with teleport in D2 ?
It's better at most things actually.
They give a ton of attack nodes right by warrior on the outer ring (and by a ton, I mean a ton). That works for all weapons (mace/staff/bow/xbow), so your warrior can use any of them, and any of the skills from them that it wants.
Meanwhile you get a ton of very strong minion nodes as well straight west and nw of warrior start. You can end up with more minion damage than a witch as a Titan, because of hulking form giving 50% more to all 10% and 12% minion damage nodes (of which there are alot).
Because of hulking form and the huge number of attack damage nodes and physical damage nodes near warrior, you actually end up with WAY more damage with bows than the bow centered/ranged classes (ranger and merc).
Meanwhile you have a ton of eshield and armor/eshield nodes near warrior as well. Armor IS good vs random mobs attacks, but it doesn't matter because Eshield is good vs everything but chaos damage and on of the nodes near warrior gives 40% of armor % increases as additional eshield recharge (which makes you recharge like crazy fast).
Don't get me wrong, the witch ascendencies are great, and you get the nice bonus to minion damage from the early spell nodes when starting as a witch, but they are 8% increases, and every 12% node (that both can get) is 6% MORE for a warrior/titan due to hulking form, and every 10% minion damage node is 5% more, which means, even with the extra starting nodes, a warrior ends up with more minion damage total than a witch (along with tons of other things).
Try a warrior bow build, focused on attack/physical damage, just enough bleed to make sure you have it on everything (think it's 2 5% bleed nodes which gives you 15% chance a pop...but it boosts physical 20% as well so it's good for all damage). You got eshield and armor keeping you from dying late game, VERY high damage SRS and even using a bow (or a 2 handed mace, or a quarterstaff), you still have enough of a minion army to keep stuff distracted, and exploding etc.
Bow damage is higher than a pure ranger. You don't have tailwind from deadeye which rocks, but you actually get more defenses due to hulking form, and crushing blow and surprising strength work with bows as well.
You can literally switch between all the weapons (mace/bow/xbow/staff) at will, using any combo you want for any situation. Want to run with 2 handed mace in 1 weapon setup and a q-staff in the other (it's a great combo)....have at it. You can still have your minion army while doing it.
Want to just shoot everything dead, with an xbow for plasma + emergency to start bosses off with 30% less health? No worries.....oh yeah, still got your minions as well.
Witches are great, but Titan is really where it's at right now, hulking is just so op.
Showcase this Titan minion build and prove why it's better than Witch.
I got a level 76 Titan I stopped playing until they add more weapons/skill gems.
as he says he just wants trophies
Level 18 Minions gems ask for 171 int. Outside making your titan strength super low, there's no real way to be strong in melee and have good minions.
Nonetheless it seems to be an interesting concept for a build
Damage wise?
Melee is far stronger currently.
I've had a Merc running a Quarterstaff and stacking STR. I was clearing maps with 50k dps the moment I arrived in maps, with projectiles and Shockwaves from Charged Staff and using Tempest Flurry. It was extremely satisfying. Then I died and got transferred to Standard, so I started again on a different thing.
