Thirty dollars? Is there an offline mode?

The original was online-only, but at least free. If I'm going to drop a whole THIRTY DOLLARS on this, does it at least have offline play? I remember playing this type of game offline on my PS2 years back, and I enjoy keeping the games I purchase indefinitely.

It is only PAID during the early access, POE 1 was originally the same way, It will be F2P in a year-ish or so, relax man they need to support development.

Also of note, the $30 investment gets you $30 worth of Path-of-Exile-Bucks. So you're getting to be part of the early access process, and you're getting the ability to do a little of the microtransaction stuff.

My internet gets some connection stutters even in single player, though, so you're not alone wishing for offline mode. Alas.

actually the game is free you pay for 300 coins for the ingameshop worth 30$ by the way.

Also the game is not released at all which people do not get at all. Early access is basically what we called beta tests in the past. it is also normal that access to betas were bound to buying the game in a way or another. Guild Wars 1 for example had exclusive access to a sneak peak event tied to prepurchasing the expansion Eye of the north for 10$ you had to pay up front and those would be paid less when finally purchasing the expansion on its final release.

Those 300 coins are basically the same method however as the final game will be free to play all you get are the points for the microtransactions in the end and this with a small discount compared to the normal price you would have to pay for them.

As I do not need those 300 coins I am not willing to buy the Early access supporters pack which is a good deal for those who want to buy stuff for PoE 1 or PoE 2 but not for someone like me that has allready invested in the needed stuff for PoE 1 before as both games share microtransactions with another.

As long as people do not understand that early access is nothing else than a closed beta in some cases even just an alpha they can't be taken seriously to begin with.

Also remember the game is likely to be completely wiped on the day of the release so I wonder how those people will react when this happens ^^

I play this game alone and there are even modes where you can't group or trade with other players, so it probably should have an offline mode, but it doesn't and it probably won't. Overall, I haven't had any issues with connection.

But my god, I wish they would alter how we name our characters since every reasonable name is taken. I don't like having to pick Runescape-style names in what feels like a single-player game.

Need to support development. They already made a billion from MTX in PoE 1, and probably already made 50 million from selling EA of PoE 2 and another 100 mil from MTX.

They'll never give you offline mode because that would open it up to mods and cheats making it able to skip the MTX store entirely. Same reason Diablo hasnt had offline since D2. Though Diablo is a paid game so its even more egregious

Last Epoch can do offline, albeit without your paid cosmetics. I’m sure if GGG did the same, people would be ok with that in POE. Aside from a couple noisy nerds, I’m sure.
