I would like to know what that cost would be. We don't need to know though, its their business and they already know users with bad connections may find it unplayable. But whatever the case is, its clear that the spikes are on the user or their ISP and not the PoE2 servers.
And they have posted how to find and solve that problem. Its not their fault that Google swarms people with results from people who don't know what they're talking about.
Someone else mentioned that in their Q&A yesterday it was mentioned they will be adding a predictive mode like poe1 has. It will be a little while though since the team that works on this are still on break. (how long are their breaks its mid january lol)
It doesn't matter if you have it "turned off".
Do /global # and /trade # and pick a high number so you aren't there with other people talking. Fixed it for both of us. Massive difference.
Hong Kong which is my closest server has crazy lag spikes, especially during peak times. Switching to Singapore which has a higher ping is more stable and actually playable.
I've lost 2 divs already this way. Nothing like watching it just out of reach of your dead character's hands because you've got 10000ms ping all of a sudden. Yeah, and also getting disconnected right after you open boss portal is also very fun.
