Stuttering due to Network/Shader Caching
I am getting horrible micro stuttering in this game. I have tried literally everything I can that I have found online and on forums.

I have been watching the stat graph religiously when moving around areas, fighting enemies, going into a new area etc. and its two things:

1. Network Spikes

I'm going off of either the Washington server or the Texas server (ping is relatively the same). I sit around 30 to 50 MS, but I will get spikes 60+ which seems to be the consensus "cut-off" before stuttering starts due how high it is. I'm going to assume there isn't much of a practical fix for this issue. I lack the ability to get better internet due to my rural location.

- I have also tried to log in and out of the gateway multiple times to try and get a better connection. Doesn't seem to change anything in that regard.

2. Shaders

This is bothering me the most and I want to know if there is any solution someone has found that can help with this and prevent stuttering from it? I have tried literally everything I've seen online or could think of.

- I have changed every setting to as low as possible.

- I have deleted the shader cache and recompiled it.

- I've given the game high priority on my pc with high GPU usage.

- I went into the NVIDIA control panel and turned up my shader cache size.

I am running out of ideas and starting to assume/wonder if this will be something the developers will have to address?

anecdotal but for me i had near constant spikes in shader no matter what API i was using. I ran DDU (display driver uninstaller you can download it from google) re-installed drivers and dx-12 is running buttery smooth now. Even first launch while textures were popping in it wasnt suttering or freezing they just were appearing slowly but after that it was smooth sailing for now atleast. If you have network issues make sure you arent using wifi its literally unplayble in this game you have to be plugged into your router or wallsocket no chance with WIFI.

its so cringe every time one of you posts that you've downloaded an app (its never the same one twice) and ran it as a solution

do not install an application to uninstall things. if it's that badly messed up, a new windows install is an hour away (probably less)
do not google download and install software on your computer because you read an internet comment
ddu is very well known and utilized.
did a hard reset on my entire pc. all drives. and its still running bad yet all other games are perfect.
31 january now, and still ridiculous freezes and stutter despite a good config, updated drivers, and some tinkering with youtube tips. Unbelievable.
Been having the same issues with a beefy pc looked at all the vids and same as all of you stutters from hell... hopefully it will get addressed sometime soon but until then i guess we deal with it...
I got shader stutter when I updated my graphics drivers, which is expected, but it smoothed out after a bit of playing, also as expected.

No network issues but I have 2 gigabit fiber directly to my apartment and I am not using Wi-Fi.

7950X3D + 3080 Ti currently.

What are your system specs? I've noticed AMD 7000 stuff can be a bit tricky. I set my Windows power settings to 100% minimum on CPU while gaming and that fixed a lot of weird stutters. There are also potential issues with the new hybrid CPU architectures where some cores are better than others, or cross-CCD communication latency.
Network tools will determine if it is the box or the network. you need to sort out which one it is. game design in network concepts are different than rendering data. Network time outs are handled in the game. Incomplete data from network traffic a buffered concept usually to wait out the time out on the network. you would see in in the input lag more than the output.
same.. shader / CPU spikes when maps are loaded.. annoying
Hey Guys

Friend of mine started feeling this today as i was on discord with him. He has a 9800x3D with a 5080 and all of sudden he starts having stutter in game. Every time he started casting spells the network started spiking from the usual 45ms to 200ms.... While watching his stream over Discord we have tried everything I could think of to help him.
At some point i asked him what did he do previously in game since when the stuttering started happening. He told me he equipped Wildshards support gem on the Fireball skill... I told him to remove the support gem (wildshards) and give it a try just to see what happens when casting the fireball skill... Guess what, no more network spikes and therefore no more stuttering... he played the game like 10 minutes straight with no issues... I told him then to equip the support gem again, and the stuttering was back... We have tried unequipping the gem and re-equip it a few times just to check if this behaviour was consistent which it was... so there is something with the combination of the fireball spell and wildshards that causes this

So, i ask any of you to have a look at this and share your results if you in fact are using this support gem..

anyone ever consider there cable modem going bad or the box fiber is connected to might be faulty... i did a full replacement of my cable box and butter ever since but i was having connection issues on and off for awhile.. like suddenly polling a different ip i really dug into my settings and concluded it was a hardware problem.
I notice (and maybe others have too. Didnt read the whole thread) but modern CPU's have sleep states where it powers the clock down and this is the reason it stutters in PoE2. Especially in latest Windows 11. Even when i stand still the FPS goes from 70 (locked to 70) and down to 40 and back up again and again and again causing huge stutter, and it happens as the CPU clock goes up and down.

I have power plan set to high performance so that isnt the issue. However i did untick high performance and put it back on, went into the game and the CPU clock stayed at max. Wohoo! Opened the chat to say this in case someone else needed to know and as soon as the chat opened BAM the CPU clock started to fluctuate again and stutter back. Going to test now without touching the chat and see if it stays.

On windows 10 i had no issues. After the upgrade to Win 11 latest (first Win 11 it upgraded to was fine with PoE2. Second upgrade a few days later to latest Win 11 messed PoE2 up).

So i hope the devs look at this issue because its unplayable for A LOT of people. There must be something they can do game side.
Having some of the same issues are other since the most recent patch. The game was working perfectly fine and now I'm getting studders and map glitches.

Running RTX 2080 Super and now it's struggling for some reason.

I just uninstalled. It's pretty fun, but it needs the rest of its content, like swords for example, and to have these performance issues remedied. It's not worth playing around with a bunch of stuff in your system to try to eek out a bit of performance that won't be enough to make it consistently smooth anyway. No other equivalent game requires it, so I'll wait until they fix things on their end. Looking forward to it.
