Is merc suppose to feel that bad in act 1 and 2 ?

I am playing my first merc now, I have some early game builds with granades and Galvanic Shards and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ feels so slow and clunky, I have a good weapon but act 1 felt even better with warrior than this.
With my monk I did finish the acts in like half the time.... when does merc start to feel good ? because most endgame builds kinda look fun but this right now is just painful slow and clunky

I think you might not have clicked with the class.

My merc felt more powerful and beefy than all the other classes I played except maybe ranger, cause rangers are busted OP right now.

Currently my merc became my main. in cruel atm, throw down glacial bolts, fire air salvo, chuck a ballista or two down the whole screen just implodes.

Feel like a skill issue. The damage rotation of a merc, crossbow, not suiting your playstyle perhaps... Fyi, you are not stuck to crossbow.

Indeed fair point, gemling seems like a build that will eventually be quite diverse, it can make almost any weapon class work

[disclaimer] Im not a "pro" player
Surrently playing as merc.
Act 3 playstyle be like:
right click (ice shards) + left click("shotgun") = boom and 99% of enemies died.
+ tested shock build and it was good too (not that fast as above but easier)

i have a really low level merc and it felt stronger than the other classes ive played so far. basic shot hit like a truck haha.

LEVEL 75 MERCENARY HERE.

Yes it does feel terrible for a good bit.

You will be able to stack 200% reload speed and attack speed which completely change the feel of the class.

Pick up those nodes in the tree! Have fun.

Late game classes in this game play like the first game. Fast. You get so much attack speed and stuff it no longer feels like dark souls. Honestly kinda lame IMO.

High velocity for boss killer
Get 2x iron rings, weapon with runeslot for flat +ele damage
You will MELT bosses and mobs
On a2 boss you use one of the exalts to trade for ~100 pdps xbow and you will melt him too

This game is 3% skill 97% lucky currency drop to buy things for market in the acts and 99% skill in getting currency in maps.
Never craft with rare currency, NEVER. Just buy out of poe official website trade tab. Playing with what the game gives you is for the 1% no lifers, unplayable for reg people.
