Does Rage work on Tempest bell? if not what is best supp gem to slot in there early game?

Ice monk here, I have Rage / Close Combat / Heavy Swing. Waiting on a better Jeweller's for another slot, which will probably be Font of Rage

my first high level character is an ice monk and I was using rage on tempest bell. there's another gem you can get that gives you even more rage (i think its a support III gem, forget the name right now). Stuff gets deleted SOOO fast when the bell drops.
