One most common ways this occurs, happened to me on PS number years back even, Gmail was compromised(sign up for “did I get pwned” fyi too), forgot change PS password afterwards cos never use thing anymore, and boom, they just lucked out that it matched old compromised password on gmail and I had no two step on my PS. Support cleared it all up pretty fast but ya, in that case was serious as started buying games on the store right and racking up my CC.
Actually now think about it, was a major breach recently haveIbeenpwned? Was tweeting and sent alert out about so prob a large amount of relatively up to date emails and passwords being sold from that on the dark web(no I’m not kidding, sites can just buy this stuff, hacked accounts etc right, my PlayStation was prob just that but I shut down the purchaser), nows really good time to change all your passwords anyways.
