Not sure I understand killing palm falling thunder combo
So to capture a charge using killing palm you first need to hit an enemy to get the blue orb on their heads. But 90% of mobs die from 1 hit anyway. Not only that but it's single target so you can only gain 1 orb at a time.

gaining 3 stacks requires hitting 3 mobs 1 time and then using killing palm 3 times...

Am I missing something? Not sure if I'm doing it correctly or not.

You can increase the chances of getting more charges, and then have a chance of not using up charges on use. Which grant you amazing uptime on just wiping out entire screens of enemies. Eventually you may not be killing everything in one hit. Also, there's more ways to get charges. Early game this is the most powerful combo for a quarterstaff, as you can nuke large parties of monsters at once and chunk bosses.

Would you mind explaining how to get more charges and or not using up the charges? Does it come from the active skill tree or the passive skill tree or something?

There are support gems that generate extra charges. Put that on your charge generating ability. Then there's support gem to not consume charges. Put that on charge consuming ability. There are also things on the passive tree which synergize with charges. I'm not at my PC right now, but if you use search bar on the passive tree and type in "charge" it will highlight everything.

It is a crappy mechanic and every monk must abandon it for Combat Frenzy skill combined with Resonance passive skill.

It sucks and hopefully they make culling more viable in the future.

Oh yeah I see it now, thank you.

In general the whole charge mechanic needs work, it's not fleshed out very much. This goes for any type of charges. Generating them isn't flexible enough to be easy to incorporate into many builds.

Just hit them with killing palm (1 shot them or 2 shot them doesnt matter. On my monk 1 hit of killing palm kills most of my lessar monsters outright. I just hit 3 of them, get 3 charges, then unleash thunder on a stronger guy or the mob.

Killing palm inflicts culling which checks if they are below 35% hp (lower if blue or higher tier).

This is why I use Siphoning Strike to get charges from shocked enemies, it's way more consistent.

Killing Blow would make more sense if you can use it on frozen enemies to get the same effect, or provide other means to get charges early game.

The Power Siphon on a wand can give power charges btw.

yes, Siphon is way better once you get to it. Shocking is good right now, and plenty of passive nodes to build upon it.

I just wish there was more ways to alter the playstyle. Maybe later it will get tweaked.

The bad thing about the game's passive tree is how directionally constrained it is.

Armor is strictly only in the warrior section, a monk cannot access it no matter what or it will be too costly.

Maybe with acendency they open up nodes into other classes? That would be nice. This can be like a lv70+ content where you can dual class another node direction of your choice maybe?

Act 4 and 5 aren't done yet and I suppose that is meant to be lv45, and lv55 content.

I agree that the passive tree is very restrictive right now. For monk, there are only roughly 2-3 Fire/burning nodes and 3 or 4 Cold/frozen nodes , but like 30 Electric/lightning/shock/shocked nodes.
