Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Explain the logic here
Why is it when I’m in town figuring stuff out for my build the instance of the area will close on me after a few minutes, but when I’m actually in the area I can pause the game for unlimited time without worrying about being closed out of the instance?

It's worth noting that each instance in Path of Exile 2 lasts for about 8 to 15 minutes after you leave it. If you don't head back before this timer, it's destroyed and a new instance is created when you come back to the same area (waypoint or transition)

If you logout and quit the game while you're still in an instance, when you return there even days later, you'll still be in the same instance, with the parts of the map you previously explored remaining explored. So it seems like if you logout outside of town, the instance remains open indefinitely.

It's really dumb. PoE1 didn't have this problem. The range is also insane. Eight to fifteen minutes? Why is there a range on resetting instances and why is the max range twice the min?

It's atrocious design that makes no sense. Probably because GGG keeps cheaping out on servers.

People seem to not be explaining this.

'Towns' are always Public instances. If you go AFK in one that has zero other people in it, It will close and kick you.

Other areas, if played solo are 'Private instances'. Thus have no time limit on them and can be paused. This also includes Hideouts and Guild Hideouts should you be the only one accessing them.

except this is exactly how instances work in poe1. . .

Replayed PoE1 last month. Played PoE2 this month. Exactly same conditions, same play style. Port to town, take a ♥♥♥♥ or eat. Never lost a portal or reset instance in PoE1. Happened several times in PoE2.

They either don't actually function the same or it's a bug.

Deal with it.

Or how about we hold GGG to better standards and tell them to use all of that money they get, selling $30 to $80 MTX, to get better ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ servers?

I dont believe you.

if you alt click on a waystone or instance entrance in poe1 to make a new instance it literally tells you the instance timer. . .and it is 8-16 minutes just like this game.

this has been a mechanic in poe1 for nearly a decade now. . . instances are not persistent unless you are in them.

I'm just trying to figure out why they made it that way. Because servers can't handle leaving them open longer?

Just seems odd I will be working ♥♥♥♥ out on town with the expecation to go back to instance but 10 minutes or longer guess what screwed.
