D4: Damn near everything else.
D4 is mostly hated because of blizzard and the current season being lackluster.
Season 4 and Season 2 were god tier. And season 0 (which is the most reasonable comparison to poe 2 currently) Felt much better than this.
1 - wrong
2 - this one is probably true
3 - this game isnt about making your own character. you're playing a specific character who has their own story. this is not a legitimate point.
4 - This one is also a dumb point, D4 has been out for a while now, of course it's better optimized.

Yeah, very engaging. Bone prison Necromancer level of engagement.
PoE 2 is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥. It have everything wrong with the game just like D4 did. Bad skill balance, no build variety, boring and repetitive endgame, no loot, random one shots, boring combat. And still poe 2 is praised and D4 is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I guess most of the players still didn't hit poe 2 endgame.
Brother. The player characters in PoE2 and PoE2 have backstories but they have no legitimate stories in game. Just flavored quips based on your class/backstory.
None of that prevents you from looking different. Literally no reason why you can't have different hair or whatever. I remember people bashing Diablo 4 for gender locking and ♥♥♥♥ too. While D4 class characters also have the same backstory lore situation.
D4 was better optimized at launch than PoE2 is. PoE2 is in "beta" though so it still isn't a fair comparison. But it is disgusting how much worse some areas in poe2 are than others
The majority of gaming opinions, now-a-days, has nothing to do with the actual game but with group-think and the desire to be part of the in-crowd.
Everything is calculated. What you are not seeing is that if I misplay this I lose my character there, as it's HC and they could delete me in 1 sec.
It also suffers from a small team and therefor a low update cascade. There are no builds and mobalytics as well, which adds to the lower visibility,
Which is kind of sad, since parts of the game are imho some of the best in the genre.
It's fun to make builds or respec into others.
The crafting is great.
Circle of Fortune vs. Merchants Guild (basically SSF vs. Action House) gives different and satisfying playstyle experiences for both. Personally I really enjoyed the loot explosions from CoF.
The bosses are ok from what I remember (haven't played in a while).
Overall visibility is/was imho better than in PoE or Diablo.
The idea of shortcuts through the campaign instead of just skipping it is interesting and definitely better than being forced to completely replay it every time.
Of course there are downsides as well (one-shots still happen, you still have to go through long parts of the campaign, on death effects, etc.), but overall I would probably put it in the top3 or 4 for me.
I didn't like D4 much. One thing has to be said though, D4 utterly blows PoE2 away as far as actual combat goes. It is silky smooth and flows very nicely. PoE2 combat is surprisingly clunky. Was not expecting that.
