So my currency drops may be excessively low.
But still, how does that explain this:

I can't get an increase in skill power to save this character's life. Let alone anything that would help boost anything else. It just drops low level ♥♥♥♥ in high level maps. My RNG is beyond remedial.
Pardon me if I call it something else. I'm old, I use old school terminology. Like 'Magic find' from the D2 days.
I think the game is balanced around "rarity of items found" which would explain your problematic situation. I think that sucks but I also think they will change that because from what I see majority of players do not like it as a stat. It should just increase automatically as difficulty increases. Magic find is a boring stat anyways, I do not feel more powerful if I have more of that stat.
better loot is generally speaking in higher tier maps with higher level monsters, they also give more xp when closer to your own level.
my infernalist witch is 80+ and i'm doing t11 progression currently.
*edit*
and if you're having trouble getting higher tier maps, consider taking an exalt or 2 and using em on buying some.
i've had dead spots where i basicly dropped no usable maps, just spend a bit of exalts to fix the problem the easy way
Like I could change the RNG that doesn't give me the 'Increase RARITY* of magic items found' modifier almost ever. I can't change what it wont give in the first place. And the game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ punishes me for it. It's just pissing me the hell off.
*Happy now? I used the term that you love so much.
I lied you have to start from tier 1 if you run out of them all.
Yeah, well... I can't do higher tier maps that are closer to my level without higher level skills, that would be able to kill the stronger mobs, without them swarming and killing me, losing the map in it's entirety, and having to find another from the start.
It's a circular path of setback. And all because RNG is a ♥♥♥♥ mechanic, that some of us it actively holds back; While others it graciously rewards.
True, it's one of the things they should have gotten rid of from PoE1; But instead made it the main focus. Which is complete tripe.
Personally I would reroll in situations like these. I rerolled my stormweaver because I felt like stuck and didn't want to farm lower level content with a higher power character. I didn't fall for the pitfalls I fell to with my stormweaver and my ranger is doing great. It is also fun because I am experiencing a new character. I didn't use any gear that my storm had because I started ranger on ssf instead of standard this time as well.
Welcome to Path of Exile.
Only the most masochistic and dedicated level a char past 70 or 75. Same as the first game. I believe the halfway point in Experience to level 100 is level 83. This was the case in PoE1, where 1 careless death wipes a few days' worth of Experience gain. Let that sink in.
Secondly, PoE is 110% based around trading. The average player will get absolutely nowhere unless they fully embrace trading.... or at least buying, selling is optional.
Also, amazingly the devs incorporated Magic Find in the game. One of the most despised and demoralising mechanics ever seen in an ARPG. Even Blizzard knew this and removed it from the mix years ago, and all good ARPGs since never even included it. Gimp yourself to get decent items to drop, which you can never wear because then you will gimp your Magic Find. Terrible terrible mechanic. Game ruiner.
1 death deletes how much EXP in PoE1?
Also you aren't factoring that this game is way harder than PoE1 so...
the lowest level a map can be is 65, so doing 66 is not mid level, it is the second lowest level you can do a map at, that is by definition a low level map.
that is because you're doing low level maps, do higher tiers with higher level mobs and you'll start seeing higher level skill gems, is it perfectly balanced, no, is the game done? no, these are the things you use an EA to fix.
if you can't do higher tier maps the problem is your build and gear, not that you can't get tier 15 skill gems at t2 waystones, the rest of us got the same tier skillgems at those map tiers.
10% of your Exp bar, but you will never lose a level. Which when your level is 80/90 one death is a loss 1 or 2 full days' worth of Exp grinding.
I am. Most players will stop when they hit the point that they lose 10% Exp bar per death. A few of us go on.
This is at least my PoE1 experience. I am only guessing it will be the same here. Will I go on after level 70/75? Not sure as I am not finding this game very much fun compared to PoE and especially not compare to Last Epoch. I just came from 3k hours of that game and it was a total pleasure from start to finish. Much much better game. I will be returning shortly.
