So you're encouraged to push as far as you can to unlock more atlas points and improve the quantity and rarity and then farm where you plateau to afford upgrades (both levels and gear) to push further, depending on what your build lacks most.
I'm running archmage mind over matter and it doesn't feel like my character is ever SAFE, so right now I'm running tier 10s to unlock more points.
Enemy rares still die in a couple casts. Once that changes and I die more often due to rares and magic mobs surviving long enough to clobber me, I might drop down a few tiers and farm for a while.
An important part of this is knowing what your build can and can't handle. I find bosses generally less challenging because they're made with one-shots in mind and the telegraphs are much fairer than in a confusing ball of random mobs, for example, but a build that can screen-clear easily might want to do that and avoid bosses.
I'm also currently avoiding Ritual and Breach because I find myself mobbed into a corner and stunlocked to death too often for the risk to be worth it.
You lose the waystone and gain nothing if you get clapped trying to do a Ritual and the stuff in it is highly RNG - I've seen better stuff drop from rares than you get out of the ENTIRE ritual pool and the ritual usually only lets you buy a few pieces.
No point croaking for those three augment orbs.
Better to just clear the maps for waystones and navigate to a map with Expedition or Delirium.
Well I'm playing as power charge shock monk, got a 1ex or was it 5ex staff that might be worth ~2 divine on the crazy market.
so up until lvl 15 I'm doing very fine, breach still might kill me if I got too fast into the fray without my staff fully charged for 60s with power charges.
Ofc I can only handle Tier 13-15 maps if they don't come with crazy modifiers, but at around Tier 15 I feel that I need one or two more hits for mobs, that it takes that bit much longer to kill them.
PS: Really enjoy breach and delirium.
PPS: only lvl 85 with 6 ascension points so far
