?% increased rarity of items found

alright i did try to look this up, but couldnt find a proper answear

what does specifically this stats do ?

like increased the odds for more drop, dropped from a boss ?
increased the chance to get better loot ? (this is what i think it is)
or increase odds to have gears with socket (watched a video saying that was that Oo?)

i must admit, im a bit confused, i think its straight forward and increased gear quality drop from boss but ...

In its basic form, It has a chance to make a white item blue, or a blue item rare, or a rare item unique. More drops would be the attribute "Quantity" not "Rarity".

There are parties playing with 600 rarity between them on a map and getting headhunter drops, for example.

It also for better currency drops too, which is a big problem and people are asking for it to be changed. POE1 solved magic find by making it not improve currency drops or quantity of drops, but POE2 seemed to have gone back to what everyone hated for some unknown reason. Expect it to change in the near future though, since it is one of the biggest hot topics right now that most people don't like.

Yes, based on the video posted by @Ankarin, Rarity in PoE2 also affects currency exactly as you say.
