its always the weapon...
IF you want to see horrible game design, look no further than D3's original hell mode.
Minion+invul aura+arcane beams+chain lightning. You want to talk unkillable mess? It was a complained about combo so much, that not only were some of them no longer able to roll together, but invuln+minions disappeared entirely, for a while anyways. Game developers rarely get things right, but it is up to the player feedback to fix the problems.

Decide for yourself there.
Yeah exactly.
The POE game community maturity levels range from 'highly intelligent' (check out this brilliant analysis of Act bosses ) to worryingly anti-social BPD responses.
IMO, it is a brilliant game. You can see the genius of it in so many ways.
But their dogged pandering to the 'leet', this-is-a-substitute-for-a-career-as-a-doctor' crowd is badly hurting its appeal.
So I think your gear is pretty bad, you should definitely get more damage stuff and better gear overall. The helmet for example i'd say +1 to minion skills and accuracy are useless. Your wand can also be upgraded same for your rings. Vendors sometimes actually sell really useful stuff. Maybe have a look at your passive skills and stuff like support gems too.\
This game is a lot of problem solving your character if you hit a difficulty wall I noticed. The video you shared of the boss kill seems to be nothing outrageous since I do about the same damage as monk, i've only really played monk tho.
His weapon is fine? lol +54% spell damage is really high at that level and +1 to all spell levels is huge. Skill levels scale damage far more than anything. And his shield adding ANOTHER +25% spell damage and +1 spell level, the guy has about the best he could get in Act 2.
It's not the gear. It's the game. Sorcs are hamstringed in the early game for damage.
I remember that, I hated D3 for that reason and could barely bring myself to get back into it with the expansion.
Which baffles me why GGG wanted to follow in D3's footsteps. With Souls-boss designs.
I don't know then. But looking at his video something is clearly wrong, might be the game. His execution is fine damage is just piss poor. I compare this to my own experience where my Monk slaps most campaign bosses within a minute or less without difficulty. I'm getting the feeling either monk is OP or sorc just sucks
The sorc is just not well balanced in the mid game. Sorc Act 1 is great. Act 2 and Act 3 kind of sucks damage wise. The skill gems need to scale better. That part of the passive tree could be reworked as well. Either or both.
Let's break down what the guy is saying is bad here (and I'm sticking with the highlights only):
Weapon (rare):
+54% spell damage
+ 1 to all spell skills
Helmet (rare):
+17 to energy shield
+ 56% to energy shield
Amulet (rare):
+ adds 30 spirit (can equip a hole new spirit thing after flame skulls)
+ life regen
Shield (rare):
+ 28% spell damage
+ 1 to all spell levels
+ 15% cast speed
Armour (rare):
+ 104 life
+ health regen
Ring 1 (rare):
+ 25% lightning res
+ 13% cast speed
+ 13% cost res
Ring 2 (magic):
+ 24% lightning res
+ 1-15 lightning damage
Gloves (rare):
+ 22 life
+ 8% cold res
+ 7% lightning res
Belt (rare):
+ 1 charm slot
+ 10% fire res
Boots (rare):
+ 10% movement speed
+ 7% lightning res
+ life regen
First of all, where is your mana regen?
No wonder you struggle with the dude, you can't spam him with your spells on second phase, because you have no gas in the tank.
You could finish him with only flame wall and sparks. But since you don't have mana, you can't.
Second, half of your gear are almost 10 levels below or lacking in stat boosts.
You probably should gamble a few items, put some orbs in them and some runes.
See above comment???
Does anyone know if you can get even better 'stat boosts' than this.
Need to have good uptime on the skills though.
