Bullet-sponge final Act 2 bosses - why?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ozfy8FQ7Dk
4:20min, sorc 1st try against the final boss.

Level 33, 'ascended' and so on.

The Gul boss before this was similar - as in, I thought it would never end. I had the mechanics 'understood' and was just repeating the same nonsense over and over and over and over.

Then this guy shows up - actually ran out of everything, even mana potions.

This company is borderline on the cusp of creating one of the best made games in existence, yet it's hard-on for 'one upping' the 'leet' players is what's killing it.

I recently watched a video of the 2nd floor boss of Trail of S. For ref: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzkbqklxmF0
Look at DPS this guy has on the boss. There isn't even a fight.

Is this what the game is designed for? People who can break the systems like this? They're probably 5% of the playerbase.

It's crazy to be ascended, over-levelled and over-geared and be doing virtually no damage to the bosses.

I mean, they just need to reduce this boss's HP by 20% and he'd still be a challenge for 'normal people'. And an enjoyable challenge. This is not enjoyable.

Who the hell wants to replay something like this and Gul every time they start a new campaign?

You are missing out a ton of damage simply by how you are using your skills. Drop Lightning orb and Wall between you and the boss and spam spark while standing in the lightning orb. Most of the damage you are putting out will be lightning, so look for any increases to that. I don’t think at this point in the game they are unlocked yet, but the curses to lower resist also help a lot.

I think the bullet sponginess is because of your lack of damage. You will have to take a look at your char and up your damage

Took me a couple of goes to kill this boss with my ranger. It was 3 things that made it happen: 1) Spec into cold damage. 2) As much lightning resistance as possible. 3) Stick close to him and try and stay behind him in the first part of the fight (though watch out for the sandstorm). In the second, can beat him from range.

I have the curse as well.

It's not enough to be meaningful considering it's massive mana cost and this 'battle of attrition' BS with the last 2 Act 2 bosses.

I have the full 'lightning damage' upgrade tree unlocked - as well as the fire upgrade tree (not the mid-tree stuff, I mean the furthest nodes out).

Ascended, with another spell damage increase.

Wand weapon that gives nearly 50% spell damage increase and +1 to all skills.

Magic shield thing that is exactly the same as the above.

Both rare, so other bonuses.

They went off the deep end with this IMO.

The Act 1 boss is a good vicious boss battle. A lot of people hate it, but I think only the 'mist attack' is overused/OP.

And that boss's HP needs another slimming down.

But the Gul fight and this seem to just out to make the game repellent to people who are so-called 'casuals' (count me in there, I have a job and multiple other spinning plates).

It's just a shame, because the game's design and systems are seriously brilliant. But currently it is only made for 'leet' gamers.

Need another difficulty option for 'casual' players that keeps all of these systems but reduces boss HP by 25% (seriously) and attack damage by 5-10%.

That's literally all that's needed. No big code changes and they would have the game of the century with this thing...

Just wait till you get tangible proximity, invul, and health regen.

Over-levelled, ascended (and invested in the damage boost), and have all damage boost nodes checked - plus a wand and magic shield thing that both increase spell damage by 50%...and add +1 to all spell skills.

rares die fast. but yeah prox is another 2/10 game design decision. i think these devs are just awful at their jobs tbh

the mana drain aura too another useless decision. never seen a worse ARPG in my life

My character is a glass cannon that gets massive damage boosts all over the place and he's still a bullet sponge. Unless you get good RNG rolls with items or play specific classes, he's just overly tanky.

Don't forget that it's early access so stuff will still be balanced and some damage will likely get tuned down. I agree there shoud be a easy difficulty though since lots of people seem to be struggling

They do die fast but certain combination of traits are just insanely vicious. But that is typical GGG design tbh.

I hate the mana drain one a lot. I've been playing a sorc and when I got to the stupid "twins" vulture rares in Act 2, one of them had mana drain and the other had temporal aura. Literally could do nothing. Too slow to get distance (because they're super fast), and couldn't use any spells because the mana drain is way faster than my regen.

Terrible design.

I actually have a rare lightning res ring and a regular 'magic' lightning res ring.

Look man... It shouldn't be this hard at Act 2 with all of this.

How bad is Act 3 if they're cranking it up again?

And then there's another 3 acts after that, where for sure they're just gonna go madder and madder with the difficulty.

It's fine as 'tough as nails' difficulty option.

I can't keep going with this with a job and other spinning plates if there's not a 'less crazy difficulty'.

Yeah i agree on about the spongeness of most bosses. I'm guessing everyone and their granma are sooner or later gonna use OP builds to be able to play this game, like the first one. Too bad no room for experiments and enjoyment at the same time. But those are things for casuals i guess lol. Everybody will be cooler when they copy-paste their builds from the net.

Yeah, no, i call ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on that one.
I recently played Witchunter and was actually over-geared and i mopped the floor with the guy. And I don't even use grenades, except flashbang.
So either your gear sucks, or your build needs some tuning.
