scattershot dps single target
Scattershot would increase DPS by 92% on a single target, wouldn't it?

If you do 100 damage per sec from a skill, reduce it by 20% for 80 damage and reduce the speed by 20% for 64 effective DPS, and all three of those projectiles hit the target for 64*3: you would have 192 DPS on a single target wouldn't you?

I'm just curious how scattershot DPS works on single target if the target takes damage from all the projectiles.

Is this how it works, does anyone know?

Cool, thanks. Seems like an incredible support gem
Obviously you haven't tried using it, good luck getting all the projectiles to hit one enemy (even when they do, it does not seem to do extra damage). Stats also show your dps dropping by almost half. This gem is a joke and needs to have the last 2 debuffs removed to even be usable. Cutting 35% damage is enough of a debuffs. 20% lower attack and cast speed nurfs it into the ground. I had to remove it because it was useless and believe me, I tried to get it to work, it works better after removing it.
I use it along with unleash on Ember Fusillade. Seems to negate the speed debuffs and can focus single target fire.

I used it on grenades to get a wider area, and overlapping area of damage. I'm not spamming them anyways, I usually use it to soften up groups.

Its the same with slower cooldown drawbacks, etc. Having some attacks used in emergencies, or as opener or finisher attacks don't feel the drawbacks that would hurt "repeat use".

I mean.. it was fun to set up Armor Piercing or Rapid Fire rounds with Chain + Scattershot... hilarious to see your screen flood full of shots that hit everything... but the damage hit is so bad that it isn't worth it even as a group killer.

Damage reduction support gems feel relegated to delivering "on-hit" effects. Sadly, most effects are dependent on the damage you do, but things like Armor Break on hit works nicely.
