Why melee classes are so inferior to ranged?
I feel like PoE 2 has been designed for ranged classes, they are so much better to play. The WASD turns the game into a top down shooter meanwhile melee gameplay feels dated as way less fun

Well, two reasons. One developers never really get it right at first. Even barbarian in D2 sucked against ranged until later when they became tanky mofos. Two, it's early access and things are subject to change. A bonus three, is the developers don't know how to balance armor/resistance properly. Hence people getting 1 shot in the end game by various things. Other ARPG's resistance/armor was a good thing, here it is just fluffed up numbers.

Isn't Monk super meta atm?
Also like 2 or 3 days after release, when all the melee guys were complaining about Sanctum not being for melee.. it was a Warrior in my guild that was the first to reliably clear and solo the Sanctum boss for the rest of us.
I believe hes playing the Warcry thing.

Warcry isn't melee, warcry is specifically designed to NOT be in melee range and monk has mobility to get in and out.

Well then what is melee exactly? Because i'm playing Warrior-Titan slammer dude, as melee as it gets, and my slams have like 3x the radius of my Warcry friend.

Yeah. But some people "feel" like melee sucks because they get stomped in act 1-3 so it must be bad.

It's all just feelings disguised as facts.

Yeah some skills feel underpowered but compared to poe1... Melee is vastly improved yet alone because of the fluid animations.

2 warrior builds shred the game. 2 monk builds shred the game. Game is still young and not everything is solved yet.

Your slam makes you get in to melee range and locks you into an animation to do it. Your friend goes "Huph!" from hatever range and causes a stun effect+an explosion if they die. The two aren't the same.

Honestly I want to try this game but I am not willing pay for a game that has the same problem as the original, 1 shots & ranged gameplay dominated the meta.

You don't Stampede at enemies. You Stampede around and past them so they get hit by all the trailing explosions + your big slam. If a enemy does happen to get in your way, they just get heavy stunned and knocked back 15 feet.
That knockback is actually very annoying. Pushes them out and away from the mini explosions and ruins the "shotgun" effect of the skill. Avoid charging at the enemies.
As for the main slam, it covers half the screen. No escaping it.

I don't care if melee gets better with better gear, the fact that there isn't even some kind of proper engage ( e.g. charge for warrior ) and that leapslam doesn't have iframes are only two reasons why I rerolled to ranged.

It's clear the balancing is off. Just look at king of mists as a warrior vs any ranged class.

some people "feel" like melee sucks because a dipsh!t with a giant audience played it poorly and said it sucks. therefore it sucks. it's not a hard concept. Melee classes tend to be far more gear dependent than ranged. thats just the way it's always been and always will be. playing a melee class in an ARPG right away at release with no items and no currency is about as stupid as you can get. next to being a drooling idiot forming all your opinions through twitch.
