Question about loot

I didnt like POE1 but im loving POE2, but with loot not really meaning anything in this game for builds do people ignore blues and only pick up yellows? can someone explain the loot system in this game for what the best thing to do is? I seem to get a lot of blues but rarely any yellow gear? should I only be picking up yellow gear?

Use currency to craft. If you're hoping for a yellow to drop you'll be waiting a while. Aslong as it has the base stats you want then it doesn't really matter.

People who tend to only pickup yellow are latter in the game and have better equipment.

Focus on checking blues and yellow and upgrading as you play.

Soon all your items will be yellow and beat most blues.

Ignore the build
Loot is everything.
Except some op things that breaks this narrative, but as patches show- developers do not like when you are not farming in this 24\7 to trade loot you need and just Nerf the Sh*t out of it.

Just pick up gear and disenchant what does not fit your build. If it has a socket you can take it to the salvage bench to extract the socket component and start using runes on your items.

I still pick up all the blue, because sometimes it has good stats that are worth try your luck upgrading. If not, you can always NPC it for gold.

Early on, blues can be fairly decent. Offering resistances and base stats to give you an edge. Use those as jump points to toss an orb at and hope for a decent upgrade. Around lvl 12 or so, I had a few rares on that gave me some nice resistances and decent max life, plus some odd stats here and there. Just enough to give me a baseline of what will be upgrades from that point on. They'll come in time, probably sooner than you imagine if you're taking the time to explore the maps. Good luck!

loot takes understanding, you have to find a guide to understand niech mechanichs. There's normal, advance and expert bases. Expert is the best with best stats but also different kinds have different attributes.
then there's rng with sufixes and tiers, more higher tiers means better gear.
then there's what you actually need and fit your build.
etc.. etc, tons of stuff to take in.

use poe2 planner to check for best bases and from there poe2db to understand best tier of sufixes per item

when you know differences then you can tell if item is worth 10ex or 100ex easy.

you dont need a guide just an IQ over 80 and watch some (one) basic Youtube Video for crafting
