Yeah, "crafting" is basically a gacha mechanic. POE 2 crafting is quite a few steps back from the crafting in POE. I'd say D4 crafting is even more robust than the current POE 2 system.

Don't bother crafting early game. Just trade on official poe market. I went from act 1 normal to act 3 cruel with 3 weapon trades. I spent less than 7 exalts. I just bought weapons and 2-3 shot most enemies the entire campaign.

Use orb of transmutation on white item, use orb of augmentation on blue item, use regal orb on blue item, use exalted orb on yellow item.
