No that's not entirely right. You could stop it. But you wouldn't like the measures necessary to do that.
Hoping GGG implements mitigation.
Imo OSRS is the ultimate case study regarding the tit-for-tat dance between RMT and developers.
Doesn't solve the problem, just avoids it.
It solves it entirely. Games like this will ALWAYS have bots. It's impossible not to.
By not having to interact at all with the market, you've now solved the problem.
If you're doing nothing but trading to where this is a legitimate problem, you're missing the entire point of the game, lol.
How do you suggest they do that? Ban an account thats advertising in global chat and a bot makes another and does it again. That said GGG is good at banning them if you report the player name then they are banned pretty quick. Or go through the expense and long process of getting a web site closed and another pops up. Thats even if the web site is based in a region/country that gives a damn.
The fact is, as RedShirt said, the players who buy it are the real problem. No market then no one would sell. Blame the weak willed players who have low moral fibre not GGG. The players who buy are the real scum.
BTW, nice name RedShirt. Made me chuckle.
It's so easy.
That level 1 with 900 divine? Investigate and ban. The RMT company/trader loses all that currency and has to buy a new account.
Go to web, purchase an item for $5, ban the delivery guy and I'm sure GGG has a way to track and see where it came from.
It's really not that hard, they just need to care enough and go after it.
They may never eliminate it, but they can definitely make it less profitable and tamp it down.

Wait till the actual free 2 play launch, then it will be profits all day. Most egregious is the streamers/content creators who are most likely the buyers.
FYI, the chinese players are not involved since they are forced onto their own servers and have their own clients, unless they do it via VPN (Which is heavily regulated for its citizenry/China) .
However if this bothers you, good news, the game has a ssf(solo self found) mode that doesn't have trading. By playing this mode you can brag to all your friends how you didn't rmt to win, granted you don't have to rmt on the normal server either to succeed.
Regardless I wish you much enjoyment on the ssf mode.
Thankfully I am just a filthy casual lol will play till the game gets more frustrating than fun then quit.
Irrelevant.
I have friends to play with and am not interested in HC. The market is part of this game for most players.
Some guy playing 20 hours a day for a week and half really has no baring on this at all. I think you missed the point.
Had you read the thread, you'd know you're like the 4th to suggest Solo Self Found.
I have friends to game with, so no thank you.
The market is part of the game. RMT is not allowed. GGG needs to do a little policing. That's all.
