The state we're at in 2025 regarding keyboard and controllers, is that for every game, devs have to reinvent the wheel.
That's how badly controls are supported. You would think microsoft would actually do their job and make Xinput work for everything the way you want but nope... most of the time you still have to use raw input, windows message etc. to make your mouse and keyboard actually work the way you want (and bind the keys you want... when you can make them bindable at all).
So when you have to throw in ps4 and xbox controllers and make all of them talk to each other so that you actually get the right function with the right control, it becomes hell, very, very fast.
I am glad to hear that it will be implemented in 0.3
