The only difference between this game and Diablo 2 or Dungeon Siege 2 is that this game has better looking graphics.
WASD movement and dodge roll is neat . The leveling and making builds with gems is satisfying. and the campaign is actually quite good .
The bad part is the End game is boring and not fun. Trading isn't going to be something a lot of people enjoy and is an outdated model from the past when other games have auction houses and other systems in place for QOL .
THIS 100%.
I see what they are trying to do. I imagine its a hard balance between someone like me who may have 6-10 hours a week and guys that were in maps on day 2 of EA.
im in cruel act2 and to me it just feels like a slog. Not very rewarding, slow paced and punishing in all aspects (quality of life, loot, crafting, skill req's).
Maybe this changes end game?
I have a work snow day today and usually I'd be gung-ho to game all day but i'm like meh...
The community is horrible for sure. Worse than fromsofts "git gud" fan boys
Maps are trash. Terrible, boring endgame and that's all you got for endgame, too.
People will defend this game with their dying breaths because they've invested heavily into POE1 and can't admit they wasted their money and time.
I enjoyed the campaign. But doing maps is just awful. Class design on some classes is terrible. There is no 'flow' or organic advancement. Such as, generating power charges for the monk. It's the most counterintuitive hot MESS of a mechanic. Imagine in Diablo 4, if the Barbarian had to also generate "rage bubbles" to use some abilities....
......only you can't generate Rage bubbles unless it's after 3 PM on the second Tuesday of each month, and only if you just froze an enemy and dodged its attack.
The game's endgame needs a lot of adjustment. Random one shots that kill you, and you can't see what to dodge due to all the garish CRAP of particle effects going on, so you die..... and then you lose the map key you used and have to start all over.
I want to love this game, but this ain't it.
I would say reputation from POE1 and also a developer reputation for listening to the playerbase.
Do they listen?
That's actually a good factor considering today's state of game development—most games are just quick cash grabs.
Right, that's why it broke Steam's record of active players at the same time...
You're allowed to hate the game, and it has a lot of problems objectively. But the vast majority of players are having a blast with it, whatever you think of us...
Right... So you saw an overhype about Last Epoch ? About Warcen (who is dead noow btw)
You are simply factually wrong...
Or maybe you are allowed to disagree with the mass and not be "wrong" ?
Dudes, seriously, CHILL
poe is hailed as some "free" game....it's the most expensive game i ever played....buy bank slots, buy bank so can auction ♥♥♥♥, buy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane priced cosmetic so your character don't look like trash (this is a tad better in poe2 but not much) ....i'd skip if i was you. it's also heavy on rng and they have also introduced loot boxes....the people that made the game are NOT good people....they are scummy, terrible and bad...they have the stink of greedy merchant jew all over them.
Expect ? Of course not. I don't get your point, is it your first RNG-based game ? You never *expect* to get better loot. Never.
In Diablo 3, you would get Legendaries by cargoes at every turn.
In Diablo 4 (at least at relese, didn't play the campaign again since), you would not get one, pretty much at all, during the campaign.
At first first people were whining. And then they understood that by making it more rare, it increase *drastically* the level of endorphine when it does drop.
And noww people are happy with it. Did it change ? No. People adapted and all was for good.
And gear in campaign is usually useless anyways, you'll find way better very fast once it's done.
One last thhing, do check the vendors after each level up. I discovered that they have yellows sometimes that would benefit your build.
