Path of Exile 2

New player meets endgame.
Just leaving my two cents for feedback on end game maps.

Played through a tier of maps, bought a map of the next tier, played it. won. but monsters didnt drop any waystones. went to buy another one. vendor doesnt have any more.

Feels pretty bad to have progress blocked by RNG in this way. If the idea is that im supposed to just farm tier 1's all day for virtually no XP and no drops while risking 15% XP this is where I walk away. I've got nothing against punishing failure, I like the game difficulty, I like drops being rare.. But this, this is not an enjoyable mechanic. At all. Basically telling a player, wellp you did nothing wrong. just got unlucky. so spend some unknown amount of hours grinding these trash mobs that drop nothing of value and maybe you'll get to move on. feels bad.

that's all. cheers.

You are supposed to upgrade them so you get more waystones per map. Alc Orb + Vaal is the simple method.

They need to address sustainability, tell me to do x+ to progress issue is they don't drop. Yes you can make 3 lower into a higher but the amount needed isn't realistic. furthermore it just doesn't feel good running lower level maps waiting for a rng drop for the maps I need even with some of the atlas tree specced into. Rng should be left to gear and not progression.

Doryani has unlimited t1 waystones tho.

There's no way that you've purchased 1 waystone and never got another to drop and now you're basically softlocked.

Especially since almost every map I've done (granted, only on tier 5 so far) has dropped at LEAST one tier one minimum, if not multiple, which you can reforge in to a tier higher.

I understand that like, 90% increased waypoint drops doesn't guarantee one, but it's pretty improbable to softlock yourself like this

I had hoped POE 2 would be more forgiving than POE 1. Does not seem the case so far in EA. Of course the same pros are blowing through content, even the Diablo pros who never touched POE 1. Sadly my reflexes aren't in their league. Self medication doesn't help either.

But they are mastering the crafting also. Giving them better gear. Something I need to work at. Just like in POE 1.

Yeah not only can it make the drops better / more often in the map, by doing this, you will also get a modifier that increases waystone drops. So you can buy a T1 from vendor, upgrade it via whatever you want to use, wether magic upgrade then regal, or alch orb + val.
You will then see a modifier at the top that says "Waystone drop: XXX%"

I never run out of T15 maps for example, because A) I too the waystone drop rates, always upgrade or corrupt my maps, and try to kill bosses that are lvl 79+. Killing 1 boss lvl 79+ with the correct Atlas spec will always give you 3 maps, usually of the same tier.

The issue is not sustainability, just lack of player knowledge of how to obtain sustainability.

Fair. Still learning for sure

I just feel like if you kill the last elite to complete a map you should get at least a same tier one. It seems weird to get blocked like this. Early on you don't even have Atlas points to help

no you get the point and i agree with you i'm not new player and i know what i suppose to do with all item in game but can't play game cause "XXX not drop" is kinda bad situation for game design, they have to talking about it and thank for you to bring this on table and now drop rate is terrible so even it can be drop from any cruel map you gonna take a while looking for it

Just putting this out there I ran a tier 6 waystone with 290% drop chance and guess what after completing and killing every monster on the map I received a whopping 1 tier 2 waystone. RNG be rnging hard sometimes

It's pretty bad until you get enough atlas passive points to keep up map sustain, that happens around tier 10+ maps. You need to make sure all your maps are at least blue quality, put an orb on it. Also, try allocating all your points into waystone drop rate or rarity early on.

Eventually you will need a quad stash tab to store waystones because you get that many.
