My honest opinion after 160 hours
Cons:
  • From what I know about builds, a monk without a bell is a loser that doesn't want to do 50% more damage.
  • Minions without fire skulls and igniters are losers.
  • The entire passive tree is what people laughed about with Diablo 4 - haha +damage haha +stats.
  • The environments are a static diarrhea of "guess if you can walk here" and that you can't break except for vases and barrels.
  • There's no crafting, just casino-crafting or trade crafting where you craft your search request to buy the best gear you can afford.
  • The game constantly crashes during loadscreens and in a crowd of mobs, the FPS drops below 30 (from stable 120+).
  • For a game with "wow, so many builds 2.0" in PoE 2, there are probably about 8 builds FOR END GAME, you can finish the campaign using autoattacks for all I care.
  • You can get stuck in creeps, or you can get creeps that heal each other and can't be killed.
  • You can also one-shot yourself by killing a creep or just by hitting it.
  • The cherry on top is, of course, after such a death, you lose 5% of the experience you've earned over the last 4 business days.
  • There is no need in "identifying" things. Remove it.
  • Aim assist can f-off when i'm using a mouse, monk just refuses to hit the bell.
  • Backtracking in endgame maps is at this stage with no movement abilities:
    https://i.imgur.com/3aLZCte.jpeg
  • unique items are unique in the sense of being uniquely dogwater

Pros:
  • The sound when loot drops is nice
  • Lootfilter can edit those sounds and you can get stuff displayed on the minimap if you want and have huge pillars of light (i'm using this lootfilter https://github.com/cdrg/cdr-poe2filter)
  • The bosses are interestingly designed with fun attacks, although the monk removes them using a bell in about one and a half seconds, similar to Diablo 4.
  • Particles are pretty.

Talking about there's no diveristy in builds is ridiculous.

But yea if ppls just wanna do 1 button click to win then probably just follow what's "meta" and let's complain about things in a 0.1 version of the game where more then 60% of skills are marked with "Coming soon".
Remove Tempest Bell and put that damage on other skills then we can't talk diversity. You can hit bell with ice stick or with thunder stick is not diversity lmao.

I am playing monk and barely using tempest bell. My main attacks before buffing with charged staff or unbound avatar do about 20k dps, I only use tempest bell if a boss has a mechanic i cant be bothered to learn as placing the bell and hitting it while buffed will almost kill it instantly. You need to learn how to optimise your skill gems and passive tree better. There are many viable builds in a game version that is maybe 8 months to a year away from full release. Much more will be added, fixed and changed before its finished and it will be a vastly improved game then. It seems like you should have waited until it was finished before jumping in, because based on the first game and their plans for this one, just about everything you complained about wont exist on full release.

Bored reading this? Then just wait till you have to do it in game.

TEDIUM thy name is PoE2.

My son farted this morning as I walked past his bedroom door, and I dodge rolled.

Going through campaign again to level a different class feels like such a slog. I wish you at least got a chonky xp multiplier or something for each character that has beaten base campaign and cruel. I want to try out Chronomancer ascendancy but man I have no motivation to do the campaign again. After 30mins of playing I'm ready to call it a day for po2.

+ Playstyle doesn't change much for most builds
+ Support gem limit sucks

Hahahahahahhahahha, can someone please respond to this. Im embarassed for him and i cant waste anymore brain cells.

Most of what was listed there is true though.

1. Map size has been a frequent complaint, especially later on in endgame when you have to backtrack across these large maps to find an enemy you missed to complete the map.

2. Crafting material drop rate is honestly quite ♥♥♥♥♥ and the reason people opt into trading instead of trying to craft their own gear.

3. Trash mobs don't drop anything interesting majority of the time, and unless you're specifically leveling and are underleveled/around enemy level, there's really no point in killing them. The xp gain is meh and the drops are meh, yay, you got an extra 60 gold.

4. Bosses in this game do feel kinda cheap at times, especially when they have one shot abilities.

5. Inventory being small is mostly an issue while going through campaign and cruel. You're still gathering decent equipment at that point to improve your character and make gold. After fighting a few groups your inventory is full and it's time to offload, but once you hit endgame you're likely more selective of what you're picking up and you make gold at a much better rate, so inventory size being small isn't as problematic.

6. If you've played poe2 then the drop rate of decent items is self explanatory. It has been addressed once in a patch and it was a significant improvement compared to launch, but you still get the short end of the stick at times.

7. Exalted orbs drop rates improve way later on in endgame, but like mentioned in point 2, crafting material drop rate outside of that is so ♥♥♥♥♥ that it's better to just trade and get exactly or extremely close to what you're looking for majority of the time.

Points 8 and 9 are so so. Passive skill tree is mostly just additional bonuses with very few major nodes having interesting effects in comparison to the rest, but I disagree that ascendancies are uninteresting and that builds play the same. For ex. my playstyle with a Witch minion build is much more idle while my playstyle with a demonform curse build is way more active. Now if we're talking different variations of similar builds then I agree. I think all minion builds play similarly regardless of what minions you choose to use. Raging spirit will likely be involved in some way.

10. We're missing some gems so I'd rather wait till everything is added to give judgement.

We can stop read here, give me clown instead
except those are literally the only viable builds in the game. people trash D4 for having zero build diversity yet each class in this game has 1 viable build most of which are mana stacking mom

LMFAO

Frankly your whole post reeks of "a Youtuber told me to think this, so I think this, now I'm angry because I died on trials so I'm going to regurgitate every negative second hand hyperbole onto the forums".

Hes clearly been playing the game and is allowed to have these beliefs. You fanboys who get offended at other people who decide the game isnt great are the worse.

It's crazy to me that these games still make you identify items as if it's a traditional roguelike. Like, can you ever drink or equip unidentified potions...? It only exists cuz it's what Diablo did.

PoE fanboys are like rabid dogs. They played the first one for years so the second one just can't be worse. I said in global chat that PoE 2 should learn from D4 and make the last rare monsters walk to you to cut the backtracking by ~50%, got ♥♥♥♥ on like I was talking about their family lmao.
