already got 4 ascendancy points?
And idk, there's still a lot of good items to buy for only 1 exalt at your level. The more expensive stuff is for high levels, so I feel like you just heard about inflation and decided to blame that. I just searched for a new bow last night and found one with 4-48 lightning damage, and 60% elemental damage with attacks on a lvl 48 bow for just one exalt. There was tons of them for 1 exalted. Some even had +3 projectile skills, but unfortunately the one i wanted was offline. Increased my dps by 1,000 and I started one shotting again in cruel mode.
What class are you playing, what level are you, whats your skill tree like, what gear do you have, what item level is your gear and what stats are you focusing on, what spirit, skill and support gems are you using, what runes are you using, etc..
Without any information its hard to say if your class setup can be tweaked or not, if its a skill issue or not, if its out dated gear etc...
Personally I was fine until Utzal. Utzal forced me to revisit my build, skill tree and gear and gem choices. I ended up farming gold to respec a huge chunk of my skill tree after realizing what my build was lacking and was able to get a few trader bought items for better gear, either upgraded a white I bought or found better rare in the trader directly.
lvl 45 invoker monk following the crit wave invoker build by ronarray. 376 ES 974hp fire capped others however are low.
Crit builds really start to shine later in the game, especially for monk with that crit ascendancy point, which you should not get early. You need a high crit chance before taking it, and focussing on crit early in the tree means you most likely miss out on good defensive stats and early damage. It's better to respec a part of your tree later when you're ready to go all in on crit.
Invoker has one of the best defensive keystone in the game (Protect me from harm), you need 4 ascendancy points so if you already completed the first one in Act 2, you can either bang your head against the quest version of trial of chaos (free to retry) or drop/buy another Barya with 2 floors to get another ascendancy.
It will make building defenses easier. Energy shield/evasion hybrid gear is great here and there's a lot of good defensive notables in the passive tree very close to what you will take for your build anyway.
(note that going for that defensive ascendancy will make getting spirit a bit harder initially if you relied on gear for that, but way easier as you get better and better body armors).
Alternatively, you can switch your build to Ice Strike, which is just a godlike skill. The tree is probably not that different, and getting through campaign was a breeze with it. (Defense will still be an issue, it just make killing packs of mobs and bosses easier and faster with freeze loops and ice explosions all around).
