The Problem With Count Geonor
First let me state that I have played through all acts on both difficulties. I think the Act 1 boss, Count Geonor, needs to be changed. The sheer amount of spam attack this boss gets is just absurd, but the real problem is he has one attack that is virtually impossible to avoid - I don't know what it is called, but he channels an attack into the ground and then a very large red ring appears, centered on you no matter where you are or how you are moving. This ring is so large that it is impossible to move out of it by any means, including dodge roll in the time before he dives in for the attack. This is quite literally an unavoidable attack and should be changed.

Geonor was my absolute favorite fight of the entire game and I struggled with it some my first time.

It's the best boss in the game imo.

I think Bosses should be raised in difficulty. They are too easy overall. Geonor is balanced, players who whine are geared up or skilled. They are the kind of player who stand in places they shouldnt and ragequit after.

think I"ve done this fight on every class now, except warrior. the timing is pretty tight, if I wait until he's in the air I'll get hit, but if I anticipate it before he leaps I can avoid it even with no movement speed on boots.. honestly tho, often I just eat it.. it's not a one shot.

I sometimes stop to appreciate Geonor's poetry.

I think this attack is a dps check to instant kill you because you didn't beat him in time? Some games uses this. It's ESPECIALLY common in MMOs.

Honestly, im a big fan of early game being the hardest. People SHOULD get filtered if they cant handle it, the game is simply better off without them because those people would never spend money on the game to begin with.

To quote a rimworld community saying; "If you were going to spend money on the game, you already would have instead of complaining about prices".

How does that quote applies to EA where anyone that posts input is a paying player ?! You really should stop sniffing that elitist glue' it's bad for you.

You should start paying attention to the game instead of staring at subway surfer on your phone, my guy. If you were going engage with the game you would have already done it instead of whinging about difficulty.

Its not "elitism" when someone disagrees with your "i want EZ GAME!!!!!!" takes - its simply a different opinion. Especially for this game, where the hardest part is the early game. You really do want to itemize for cold resistance and HP, especially if youre getting touched by the dodge AoE.

Also... Buying into the early access does not mean the game should cater to you personally. Youre a player, not a king.

Its a gear check and skill check, actually.
You want to raise your cold resistance if youre struggling, and you can dodge it accurately as long as you pay attention to the animation tell.

What? he is pretty easy, the only thing that may catch you is the corrupted blood at the end.

Yeah thats just the usual "its fine actually" nonsense. Geonor is a severe spike and needs a balance patch.

This is flat out not true - at least not for all classes. I played Warrior and I can guarantee you that without multiple speedboosts they cannot escape this area the moment it appears. Reacting to it proactively perhaps - I did not try that, but once it appears on me I did get hit. Even when rolling almost the exact frame the circle popped up. I'm pretty sure I had a 10%+ movement speed on my boots at the time too.
Your mistake is trying to roll out of it. Rolling should only be used if you cannot get out of it and need to try to get the dodge roll i-frames. Walking is basically always faster than rolling.

Great fight, go play D4 if you want mindless.
Guess what. I've now beaten Geonor without MS boots on Warrior. You're just bad.

As much as i hate the "git gud" crew, some of these complaints about boss mechanics being too difficult are really exaggerated. All the mechanics on Count Gregor are telegraphed, you just have to pay attention and not get stressed, or have an expectation to kill the boss quickly.
He is not hard once you learn him and have good cold resistance. The only dicey part of the fight is during the first phase when he goes wolf form WITHOUT the sword because the telegraphs for his attacks are all over the place.

The second phase is honestly too easy. The add spawning where he recites poetry is basically just a DPS check and nothing more. I hope they buff him.

The delay on the jump attack could use a little tweak. Like, maybe 0.25-0.5 seconds longer before landing. Or the circle appearing that little bit earlier, same difference.

It never one-shotted me and I've never thought Count Furry was too difficult, but that move specifically did strike me as being a slightly unreasonable ask on reaction time all the same (I'm not as young as I used to be), considering the game clearly does want you to dodge it.
