The Problem With Count Geonor
First let me state that I have played through all acts on both difficulties. I think the Act 1 boss, Count Geonor, needs to be changed. The sheer amount of spam attack this boss gets is just absurd, but the real problem is he has one attack that is virtually impossible to avoid - I don't know what it is called, but he channels an attack into the ground and then a very large red ring appears, centered on you no matter where you are or how you are moving. This ring is so large that it is impossible to move out of it by any means, including dodge roll in the time before he dives in for the attack. This is quite literally an unavoidable attack and should be changed.

That's because Witch doesn't have to make directional attacks. Witch is ez-mode for boss fights. And you saying no dodge rolling required is BS.

Ugh no the second he starts channeling it he already chooses to land on your CURRENT location you can dodge this easily by moving away before the circle even starts to show up.

I think he just needs to have his HP drastically reduced. I don't mind the attacks being pretty damaging, I can cope with that, but it honestly just gets boring spamming attacks at him for 15 minutes.

He talks a lot, when he stops is when he charges in and always cardinal directions.

I've two shot this boss, not sure how it can be so hard for so many, I use WASD movement, making it easy to stay moving and attacking

The leap attack has to be guessed when it is coming. If you aren't rolling or aren't leaping out of the way before he jumps into the air, you're going to get hit. The move I can't stand, is his back slash. If you're hitting him in the back, he can just decide to turn around and hit you for an absurd amount of damage completely randomly. Hilariously, he can do it two times in a row WHILE FACING YOU and almost outright kill you. He's a fun and unique fight with awesome dialogue within, but a pain in the butt all the same.

none of this attacks are guess work, after every line he leaps, after end of the next line he leaps from where he finished his previous leap.

One of the best bosses in this entire genre, I expect some tweaks, but he should not be dumbed down.

With +10% MS on Warrior to offset his innate slowness, which is not hard to achieve at all, getting out of that attack is rather simple. He has a very obvious tell for every single one of his moves. Maybe try learning the bosses. None of them have impossible to dodge moves.

Tip for you guys who think Geonor has "unavoidable" "oneshots". When he does the attack OP has described he first does an obvious little animation where he rears up slowly before he even leaps. If you start moving when he's in this animation you'll have plenty of time to get out of the way or at least enough to dodge out of the way.

While i do agree that A1 boss should be tuned down a bit because it's major road block for newcomers and casuals, all his attacks are well telegraphed via animations. That meteor drop has a 2-3s wind-up so it's plenty of time to move out. Once the animation starts (boss is fading and starts ascending) the red circle locks onto player position and will NOT adjust. So if you're on the move when he starts the animation, and keep moving, you don`t even need to dodge roll to make it out. And i`ve tested this without speed on boots.

No1 rule in PoE2: NEVER have bosses outside your screen. Not seeing their animations will get you 1shot so many times.

Honestly, im a big fan of early game being the hardest. People SHOULD get filtered if they cant handle it, the game is simply better off without them because those people would never spend money on the game to begin with.

To quote a rimworld community saying; "If you were going to spend money on the game, you already would have instead of complaining about prices".

How does that quote applies to EA where anyone that posts input is a paying player ?! You really should stop sniffing that elitist glue' it's bad for you.

I don't think I struggled with the count at all, all his moves were fairly easy to avoid, except the dashes through the mist, I had to guess to dodge those, but they didn't feel particularly deadly when they did hit.

I do dislike the sky beams, their aoe is larger than the graphic itself and that throws me off. some kind of ground circle to indicate where exactly not to stand would be kinda nice.

all in all I enjoyed the fight, get like 30% frost resist (including the free 10%) and he tickles.

During mist phase he has short monologues; when he's done with a phrase, that`s your cue to be ready to dodge as he'll dash from the mist. Talk >dash > talk > dash. I think it's 4-5 times.
Also, nothing stops you from getting 75% cold resist and be OP.

How do I always avoid it then? 10% movement speed. Basic stuff bro

"Not impossible to avoid, just get this 10% movement speed that makes it possible to avoid :^)". Earned the clown fair and square.
That doesn't even make sense. You mean you earned the clown, right? Cuz you said it's impossible to avoid, yet simply having some move speed bonus makes it possible. So, you're admitting you're wrong, right? Just making sure it wasn't sarcasm.
