Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile 2

Banned before playing.
Long version: (TLDR on the bottom)
Someone stole my Poe1 account few years ago.
The account was also linked to steam, but also accessible from email (they didn't hack into steam, but from e-mail)

When i found out about it, it was because i received an e-mail stating that i was banned for RMT.

Apparently someone logged in and started selling all my stuff (including a mirror) for real money.

I tried contacting support, to receive help, and not only I didn't get back any of my items(wasn't really hoping for that tbh)
But they didn't even want to remove the RMT ban, I replied submitting all the proof I had that this wasn't my fault, but at some point they just started answering with obvious copy-paste template answers and I eventually gave up and lost my account created in 2013, with lots of MTX and stashes.

- Tried again a few months later, still nope, they refuse to give an explaination, RMT banned, unappealable, period. this sucks, I guess i'll wait for Poe2

- fast forward to last week: I buy the game in EA , donwload the 80gb, wait for the countdown, wait for 2 hours of server issues, then I finally log in:
- You have been banned by an administrator.

Yeah, the ban carried over, and they even let me buy the game.

I tried contacting them again, even just asking them to let me unlink my old account from steam and link a new one to start playing with a new one.

No answer, apparently I've been cursed for life by having someone steal my account.

I really loved Poe and supported it since its beginning and was really hoping to be able to get back in, but this really sucks.

TLDR:
- Played and loved poe since 2013
- My poe1 account was stolen in 2022, I noticed few weeks later
- Got banned for RMT because thieves sold most of my stuff for real money
- Failed ban appeal, reasons unclear, unappealable.
- Bought Poe2 --> ban carried over, I'm still banned -> can't play, they won't answer or unlink the account.

To be fair, it's just your word that someone hacked your PoE 1 and sold stuff for cash. Providing "all the proof you had" could mean you had no real proof that wasn't just purely circumstantial. Even you don't sound like you had much confidence in the proof you offered. Your big mistake was buying EA on an account that you KNEW had a pre-existing ban on it. Why on earth did you do that!

Your PoE 1 account was stripped of anything of value anyway. You should have bitten the bullet, made a new PoE 1 account and bought the PoE 2 EA for the new account. I seriously doubt you'll ever get any results from GGG Support. I hope I'm wrong and that it's all fixed for you, but after 2 years I think you've had it.

Where was it ever specified that a poe1 ban would carry over to poe2?

It's two different games and i merely logged in through steam, I didn't even knew that the same old linked poe1 account would be used without even asking.

I would be kind of ok with "giving up" because as you said, proof is circumstantial, guess why? Because there is no possible proof that you can give for something like what happened that isn't circumstantial.

I understand that responsibility for being hacked is in part mine and I shouldn't have been doing some things like using the same password as for my e-mail, but still... it really sucks after you've been a player for almost 10 years and they don't even give you a second chance on something that isn't directly your fault.

That said, I can't even unlink my account from steam and link a new one, i tried contacting them about that as well, and got no response to that either.

To be fair I currently have an issue with GGG where they are going radio silent and refusing to answer me about my missing closed beta supporter pack from PoE1 and stash tab bundles. When they asked for my account details they went radio silent, Then they went into my account and took my Closed Beta Forum Title off me to try and hide evidence that I ever owned it. Luckily you can still see my transaction history where it's stated I purchased it in 2012. I wrote an email documenting all the evidence I had to prove I owned this pack and they will not respond to me... Literally stole content from me then went into my account to hide evidence that I owned it...

So these guys don't seem like good people..

After playing 9 years and 6000+ hours, one day I wake up in another continent and randomly get the idea of starting to do RMT.

That must seem SO much more plausible than having an account stolen, right?

I understand being fanboys and wanting to be funny.

But when I see this kind of comments, they only really make me wish the same thing happens to you, so I can come and a laugh about it when it does.

... I highly doubt he would risk getting a ban (especially if he has alot of MTX tied to the account), to at best make a few hundred bucks. Especially when this kind of stuff is incredibly common and obvious.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that whoever does RMT doens't use a 9+ years-old account with 150$+ of MTX on it but most likely a net of bots on newly created accounts, being banned after being hacked just feel like ♥♥♥♥ on top of ♥♥♥♥ by customer service to me, but whatever.

But besides all that, the real isssue here is that I can't even play a game I bought and customer service is (again) non-existant.
The other issue is that I can't unlink my old, banned account from steam.
I remember that at some point even GGG replied to my ban appeal with something on the lines of "Yeah sry, just make a new account"

So I don't understand why unlinking it would be impossible.

I really don't understand how accounts get stolen, I've had gaming accounts for decades and never had a problem like this. Either people have weak security measures or they're giving their info away, it boggles the mind really. - Trust no one -

What ever the reason, I'd say just make a new email off the dozen applications that are out there, authenticate it and make a new PoE account and never give your information to anyone. Complaining about it on a forum where the developer isn't active on isn't going to get you anywhere.

"This thing is not a problem for me, therefore other people are lazy and irresponsible"

Let me guess, you also can't understand why alcoholics have to drink so much.

Did you manage to solve this issue?
I have the same.

I have written to support and wondering, should I do a Steam refund and make new acc or to wait for supports reply?
