Fan Speeds
Is anyone else noticing more on boss fights high GPU fan speeds? The temps are more than fine, just seems strange for my fans to ramp up as much as they do.. Specs below -

7800x3d
4090 (playing at 4k latest drivers, 4k perhaps the reason, not sure why only on bosses though).
64GB RAM
Installed on SSD

Anyone else experiencing this?

I always screenshot and save posts like this for my kids so I can show them how civilization fell.

yes noticing it when my nades explode.... my wattage is all over the place on my 4090 making my fans go up and down non stop.... Getting wattage spike from 150 up to 430 for just a split second its very concerning.

go to your bios fan curve if you want less aggressive cooling.

Capping the FPS helped me. Even setting it to 144 made It so the fan only attempts to achieve lift when the screen gets busy.

What did you cap it too?

cap it so that the thermals that trigger your higher fan speeds arent reached.

Capping my FPS didnt help... I still get 430 watt spikes for just a second then back down again.

Same issue here and nearly the same setting (4090, DLSS ON, FPS Limit to 90, 7800X3D, 1440p). When finishing bosses and the bloody cursed flloor gets rendered, fans ramps up. Same with high amoutn of fog. All settings to high.

Im having the same fan fluctuations and was getting a bit worried it was a hardware issue. Glad its not just me!
7800 X3D
7800XT
64 GB RAM

No issues steady 144 and no overly fast fan speeds to keep cool - AIO cooling ftw.

like your car (if you drive)

I want to hear my radiator fan spinning - I know its working and wont the engine wont overheat.

So look at it as a good thing... providing the temps are in check.

I have the same problem. It's not on boss-fights necessarily. The GPU fans suddenly bursts up to 2000 RPM for 2-3 seconds and then returns to normal. My GPU temps never go above 50 C and I have quite a tame fan curve (set in AMD Adrenalin). According to my fan curve, those temps should have around 700-800 RPM, nowhere near 2000.

GPU: XFX RX 7800 XT
CPU: Ryzen 5700X3D

Edit: Decided to check GPU hot spot temps to see if it was the culprit and sure enough. Even though main temp doesn't exceed 50C, the hot spot temp easily reaches 70C.
